
Women’s Soccer Travels to Central Connecticut State on Sunday

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – Brown women's soccer will travel to Central Connecticut State (CCSU) on Sunday for a 2 p.m. match.
The game will be broadcast live on NEC Front Row. Admission to the game is free.
Scouting the Bears (4-1-2)
- After beginning the year 4-1, the Bears have played to two consecutive 1-1 draws against Wake Forest and Hofstra.
- The Bears entered Thursday's match against Hofstra tied for 15th in the country in shots on goal per game (8.83) and recorded six against them.
- Senior defender Naya Cardoza scored her second goal of the season with a header in the 86thminute.
- Brooke Birtwistle assisted the play, as her free kick attempt curved into the box perfectly for Cardoza.
- The Bears are in the top three of the Ivy League in multiple categories, including shots (127), points (30), goals (11), assists (8) and goals allowed (6).
- Five Bears have at least two goals this season, including Ayla Sahin (3G), Joy Okonye, Ella Weil, Naya Cardoza and Jael-Marie Guy.
- The Bears have scored 11 goals to their opponents' six, while outshooting their foes 127-48.
- Eight of their 11 goals have been assisted this season.
Scouting the Blue Devils (0-3-1)
- CCSU began their season against Lafayette, falling 1-0 on the road.
- They tied Manhattan 1-1 in their second game before dropping matches against Dartmouth and Army West Point 2-0 and 2-1, respectively.
- Due to a cancellation, the Blue Devils have not played a game since August 28.
- They've been outshot 57-17 in four games, while being outscored 6-2.
- Despite that, the Blue Devils are ninth in the country in shot accuracy with a percentage of .588.
- CCSU was picked fourth of 12 teams in the NEC preseason poll.
- They return three All-NEC players from a season ago.
- Senior defender Kiley Yepes was named to the 2024 All-NEC Second Team, and Leah Howe and Riley Powers were named to the NEC All-Rookie Team.
- The Blue Devils are coached by Mick D'Arcy, who's been in the position since 2000.
