Women’s Soccer Visits Providence College on Wednesday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women's soccer will travel across town to play the Providence College Friars on Wednesday. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+. Admission to the game is free.

Scouting the Bears (5-1-2)
- Senior defender Naya Cardoza was named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week after scoring three goals last week
- She scored the game-tying goal against Hofstra in their 1-1 draw
- The Bears are fresh off a dominant 4-0 victory over Central Connecticut State on Sunday
- Cardoza scored twice, both on corner kick deflections, bringing her season total to four goals, which is tied for the most in the Ivy League
- Hasti Gholami and Corine Gregory scored their first career goals
- Sophomore defender Brooke Birtwistle picked up two assists last week
- Brown has outscored their opponents 15-6 in eight games
- They've outshot opponents 148-54, with 71 being on goal
- Seven of their 15 goals have come off set-piece opportunities (either corner kicks or free kicks)
- Junior midfielder Joy Okonye leads the team in assists (4) and is tied with Cardoza for the lead in points (8)
- Sophomore forward Ayla Sahin leads the team in shots (24) and has scored three goals this season
- The Friars defeated Army 1-0 and Northeastern 2-1 before losing to Rhode Island 2-0
- They defeated Sacred Heart 1-0 and most recently tied Cornell 1-1 last Thursday (Sep. 11)
- They've outscored opponents 5-4, while outshooting them 63-49
- Four Friars have tallied one goal this season, while four different Friars have each recorded a single assist
- Senior defender Ella McBride was named to the Preseason All-Big East Team
- Providence was picked sixth of 11 teams in the Big East Women's Soccer Coaches' Poll
- Graduate goalkeeper Ellie Thallman has started all five games for the Friars, allowing 0.80 goals against per game and making 14 total saves
- The Bears are 23-12-0 all-time against the Friars
- Last season, Brown was victorious, winning 2-0 at home
- In their previous five meetings, the Bears are 3-2, outscoring the Friars 7-3
