Women’s Soccer Set For Ivy League Match with Columbia

New York, N.Y. – The Brown women's soccer team will travel to Columbia for an Ivy League match on Saturday, September 27. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+ and admission is free. It will be Columbia's Pride Game, advocating for an inclusive environment on and off the playing field.

Scouting the Bears (7-1-2, 1-0-0)
- Brown was picked second in the Ivy League preseason poll, receiving six first-place votes
- The Bears went 6-1-2 in their non-conference schedule
- They began their season with three straight wins, defeating New Haven, Rhode Island and UConn by a combined score of 7-2
- Their lone loss came against Minnesota, who was receiving national ranking votes in the preseason poll
- They defeated Northeastern 2-0 in a strong bounce-back effort
- The Bears tied Wake Forest 1-1 on the road, who is currently ranked 16th in the country, and tied Hofstra in the next game
- They won back-to-back games 4-0, defeating Central Connecticut State and Providence College
- Most recently, they defeated Yale in their Ivy League opener 5-2
- Senior defender Naya Cardoza leads the Ivy League in goals with six
- She's been named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week for two consecutive weeks, while scoring in all of the Bears last four games
- Junior midfielder Joy Okonye leads the Ivy League in assists (5) and points (15)
- Brown leads the Ivy League in several categories including goal differential (+16), shots (185) and scoring average (2.4)
- The Bears have outscored their opponents 24-8, while outshooting them 185-74
Scouting the Lions (3-4-2, 1-0-0)
- Columbia was picked fourth in the Ivy League preseason poll
- The Lions began their season with four consecutive losses against Hofstra, Villanova, Pepperdine and Loyola Marymount
- They flipped their fortune with a 3-0-2 record since then, defeating St. John's, Fordham and Cornell along the way
- Columbia is led by head coach Tracey Bartholomew who began her tenure in 2014
- She boasts a career record of 84-57-31 as the head coach
- Junior forward Maia Beltran leads the team in scoring with three goals, including one in each of their last two games
- Senior Maia Tabion leads the team with three assists this season
- Sophomore goalkeeper Samantha Mahoney has started eight games this season, making 14 saves and allowing 10 goals
- The Lions have been outscored 12-9 this season, despite outshooting opponents 93-79
