Women’s Soccer Set to Play Yale In Ivy League Opener on Sunday

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Brown women's soccer will travel to New Haven, Connecticut, to face the Yale Bulldogs for their first Ivy League matchup of the 2025 season.
The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+. It will be Yale's Pride Game, and admission to the game is free.

Scouting the Bears (6-1-2)
- Brown was picked second in the Ivy League preseason poll, receiving six first-place votes
- The Bears went 6-1-2 in their non-conference schedule
- They began their season with three straight wins, defeating New Haven, Rhode Island and UConn by a combined score of 7-2
- Their lone loss came against Minnesota, who was receiving national ranking votes in the preseason poll
- They defeated Northeastern 2-0 in a strong bounce back effort
- The Bears tied Wake Forest 1-1 on the road, who is currently ranked 16th in the country, and tied Hofstra in the next game
- They've won back-to-back games 4-0, defeating Central Connecticut State and Providence College
- They've outscored opponents 19-6, while outshooting them 166-59
- Brown's 166 shots are the 15th most in the country
- The Bears are 13th in the country in shots on goal per game with 8.78 and 27th in the country in corner kicks per game (6.78) as of September 19
- Junior midfielder Joy Okonye leads the Ivy League with 11 points (3G, 5A) this season
- She's tied for 15th in the country in total assists
- Senior defender Naya Cardoza leads the Ivy League with five goals this season
- Sophomore Ayla Sahin scored her fourth goal of the season against Providence and is tied for the second most in the Ivy League
- Eight different Bears have scored this season
- Yale was picked fifth in the Ivy League preseason poll
- The Bulldogs went 2-5-0 in their non-conference schedule
- Yale began their season strong with wins over Vermont (1-0) and Hofstra (4-0)
- They traveled to Vanderbilt, who is currently ranked 17th in the nation, and lost 2-1
- They lost their next four games to UConn, Kansas, Stony Brook and Fordham
- Yale's been outscored by their opponents 11-15, while being outshot 72-126
- Sophomore forward Vienna Lundstedt leads the team in scoring with four goals and one assist
- Goalkeeper Kyla Holmes has started every game for the Bulldogs, posting a .758 save percentage and a 2.14 GAA
- Holmes is T-10th in saves per game (6.71) and T-14th in total saves (47) in the country as of September 19
- The Bears are 31-18-3 against Yale
- Their .625 winning percentage against Yale is their best against any Ivy League opponent, besides Cornell (.795)
- The last matchup was a 2-0 win for the Bears (Oct. 9, 2024)
