Women’s Soccer Set to Host Hofstra on Thursday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women's soccer returns home for a match against Hofstra on Thursday night. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

Thursday's game will serve as the team's Mental Health Awareness game.

Scouting the Bears (4-1-1)

The Bears tied 17^th-ranked Wake Forest 1-1 on Sunday
- First-year forward Jael-Marie Guy scored for a second consecutive game with an arching shot from distance in the 67^th minute.
- Junior midfielder Joy Okonye recorded the assist, as she leads the Ivy league with three.
Jael-Marie Guy was named Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week (Sep. 2 – Sep. 7).
- Guy scored her first collegiate goal against the Northeastern Huskies, scoring with a nifty touch in close proximity with the goalkeeper.
- Her second career goal came against Wake Forest, when she scored a long-range shot into the top left corner.
Brooke Birtwistle was named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week (Sep. 2 – Sep. 7).
The Bears are 2-1-0 at home this season.
- They've outscored opponents 5-4 at Stevenson-Pincince Field.
Okonye leads Brown in scoring with 7 points (1G, 3A) and needs seven more assists to enter the top five for career assists in program history.
Sophomore forward Ayla Sahin has already exceeded her goal total from last year, scoring three times this season.
The Bears have outshot their opponents 113-38 this season, while outscoring them 10-5.
- They lead the Ivy League in total shots (113) and corner kicks (43)

Scouting the Pride (3-1-2)

.Hofstra has earned a draw in each of their past two matches
- They tied Fairleigh Dickinson 2-2 and Loyola Maryland 0-0.
The Pride's record on the road is 1-1-0, defeating Ivy League foe Columbia 2-1, while falling to Yale 4-0.
Senior midfielder Manon Lebargy and graduate student Olivia Pearse lead the team with two goals apiece.
- Pearse scored both of her goals in the first week of action, earning CAA Offensive Player of the Week on August 18.
- Lebargy leads in points (5) and shots on goal (8).
Senior midfielder Millie Davies has yet to score a goal in 2025, but led the team with 7 goals and 19 points last season.
- Davies was a United Soccer Coaches All-East Regional Second Team Selection and an All-CAA First Team Selection in 2024.
Davies, Pearse, Gabriella Marte and Mathilde Braithwaite were named to the All-CAA preseason team.
Sophomore goalkeeper Lilly Bailey has played in all six games, boasting a goals against average of 1.36.
Hofstra has outscored their opponents 9-8 this season, while outshooting them 77-51.
In the preseason poll, Hofstra was picked to finish third of six teams in the CAA North division.

History

The Bears are 2-2-1 against Hofstra in the series history.
Their last matchup was a 1-1 draw at Hofstra on August 29, 2024.
