Women’s Soccer Set to Host Hofstra on Thursday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women's soccer returns home for a match against Hofstra on Thursday night. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
Thursday's game will serve as the team's Mental Health Awareness game.
The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+ and NESN+. Tickets are available here.

Scouting the Bears (4-1-1)
- The Bears tied 17th-ranked Wake Forest 1-1 on Sunday
- First-year forward Jael-Marie Guy scored for a second consecutive game with an arching shot from distance in the 67th minute.
- Junior midfielder Joy Okonye recorded the assist, as she leads the Ivy league with three.
- Jael-Marie Guy was named Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week (Sep. 2 – Sep. 7).
- Guy scored her first collegiate goal against the Northeastern Huskies, scoring with a nifty touch in close proximity with the goalkeeper.
- Her second career goal came against Wake Forest, when she scored a long-range shot into the top left corner.
- Brooke Birtwistle was named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week (Sep. 2 – Sep. 7).
- The Bears are 2-1-0 at home this season.
- They've outscored opponents 5-4 at Stevenson-Pincince Field.
- Okonye leads Brown in scoring with 7 points (1G, 3A) and needs seven more assists to enter the top five for career assists in program history.
- Sophomore forward Ayla Sahin has already exceeded her goal total from last year, scoring three times this season.

- Davies, Pearse, Gabriella Marte and Mathilde Braithwaite were named to the All-CAA preseason team.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Lilly Bailey has played in all six games, boasting a goals against average of 1.36.
- Hofstra has outscored their opponents 9-8 this season, while outshooting them 77-51.
- In the preseason poll, Hofstra was picked to finish third of six teams in the CAA North division.
