Men's Hockey Falls in Friday Game to Dartmouth

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Dartmouth Big Green (14-12-2, 11-9-1 ECAC) tallied the final four goals to take a 4-2 win over the Brown Bears (13-13-2, 9-11-1 ECAC) Friday night at Meehan Auditorium.
"It's disappointing, we were up 2-0 and our own mistakes caused us to lose the game," said head coach Brendan Whittet '94. "Bad puck management and inept special teams, which has been killing us most of the year, puts us in a situation where we have to win tomorrow night in order to get home ice.
"We need to play better, I expect more from my so-called elite guys. You need to find a way to win the game when you're up 2-0 at home. Our mistakes allowed them to get out of here with a win and capitalize off of poor decisions."
Tyler Kopff put the Bears ahead 4:46 into the first with his fifth goal of the season. Defenseman Jack Hewitt blocked a shot in the Brown zone and moved the puck to Kopff, who carried it the length of the ice before wiring a shot five-hole to beat Dartmouth goaltender Emmett Croteau (20 saves).
Ethan Mistry doubled Brown's lead late in the first with his second goal of the campaign. Off a faceoff win, Mistry collected the loose puck near the goal line and slid it into the net after Alex Pineau's shot deflected through traffic in the slot. Charlie Gollob added the secondary assist on the goal.
Lawton Zacher (23 saves) was strong from the start and finished the opening frame with nine saves.
Dartmouth cut into the lead at the tail end of a power play 3:54 into the second period. Cooper Flinton re-directed a point shot from CJ Foley to beat Zacher. Nikita Nikora added the secondary assist on the power play goal.
Hayden Stavroff tied the game with his tenth of the season with eight minutes remaining in the second. Braiden Dorfman picked up the assist on the tying goal.
Dartmouth broke the deadlock with 6:57 remaining in the third as John Fusco blasted a one-timer from the top of the zone off a feed from Hank Cleaves.
The Big Green added an empty-net goal with 1:10 remaining as John Fusco tallied his second of the game.
