Baseball Falls Late in Series Finale at Dartmouth

All nine members of Brown's starting lineup recorded at least one hit as the Bears outhit the Big Green 15-8. DJ Dillehay and Reece Rappoli had three hits each, with Dillehay clubbing a home run and scoring three times. Gunner Boree and two hits and two RBIs and Andrew Hanlon drove in three runs. Mark Henshon also reached base four times with two hits and two walks.
After Dartmouth got two runs in the bottom of the first, the Bears answered back with three of their own to take the lead in the top of the second. Dillehay started the rally with a solo homer, and Hanlon plated two more with two-out single.
Dillehay doubled in the third inning and came in to score on a single up the middle by Rappoli to push across another run and make it 4-2.
All told the Bears built a 9-2 lead with nine unanswered runs between the second and seventh innings. Hanlon drove in another run with a bases loaded walk in the fifth. Boree and Quinn Rooks each added RBI singles to center field in the sixth, and Nathan Brasher and Boree each plated runs as part of five straight singles in the seventh to spot the Bears a seven-run cushion.
Dartmouth tied the game with a seven-run bottom of the seventh inning, sending 13 men to the plate and having the first seven men reach base. All told, Dartmouth picked up three hits, four walks and three hit batters in the inning.
Dartmouth walked it off with an unearned run in the bottom of the ninth on a bases loaded single with two outs.
Brown will return home next weekend to host Columbia in a three-game series at Attanasio Family Field at Murray Stadium.
