Women's soccer hosts Columbia in first home Ivy contest

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's soccer team plays its first home Ivy League game of the season this Saturday, Oct. 1 at 3 p.m. against Columbia.
Both the Bears and Lions won their first conference game of the season last week and now will be looking to kick off the Ivy season with a 2-0 start.
The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+. Fans are strongly encouraged to purchase tickets online at BrownBears.com/tickets prior to their arrival at Stevenson-Pincince Field. Fans should either download their digital tickets to display on a mobile device or print them at home prior to arrival.
The game will also serve as the team's Breast Cancer Awareness game. All fans are encouraged to wear pink. Pink shirts will be available for the first 100 fans in attendance. Pink cookies will be for sale at concessions with proceeds going towards breast cancer research.

Scouting the Bears (6-2-1, 1-0-0 Ivy)
- Brittany Raphino had her best game of the season so far in last week's 4-1 win over Columbia. The senior, who earned Ivy Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts, was involved in all four of the Bears' goals, picking up two assists and one goal in the process.
- Kira Maguire and Miya Grant-Clavijo each also scored a goal against the Big Green, the second of the season for both.
- Through nine games, the Bears are averaging 2.11 goals per game, while allowing opponents to convert .89 times per contest for a 1.22 scoring margin, putting them at second in the Ivy League.
- The Lions are off to a good start to the season themselves as they have gone 4-2-1 in nonconference action and took down Cornell 1-0 in their first Ivy game of the season.
- Against the Big Red, Columbia's Shira Cohen scored in the 40th minute for the only goal of the contest.
- Cohen (3G, 2A) is one of three Lions with a team-high eight points on the season. Ania Prussak (2G, 4A) and Maia Tabion (3G, 2A) are the other two.
- All-time against Columbia, the Bears hold the 15-12-7 series edge.
- Brown has won the previous two meetings, both by a score of 2-0.
- In the 2021 iteration of the matchup, Ava Seelenfruend notched a goal in the 31st minute with assists from Evelyn Calhoon and Raphino. Calhoon assisted again in the 60th minute on a goal by Maesyn G'Bye '22.
