PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women's soccer senior defender Naya Cardoza was named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Cardoza scored three goals this week and was pivotal in both games for the Bears. Against Hofstra, Cardoza scored on a header in the 87th minute to level the game at 1-1. She headed the ball from the top of the 18-yard box with enough speed to beat the goalkeeper, helping her team earn a hard-fought draw.
She then added two more goals for the Bears in their 4-0 win over Central Connecticut State on Sunday. Both goals were redirections from corner kicks, scoring the first and fourth goals of the game for Brown.
Cardoza and company will travel to Providence College on Wednesday for a matchup with the Friars at 6 p.m.
