4/8/2025 9:48:00 AM | Men's Crew
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Coming off of a strong showing at the Sarasota Invitational, the Bears prepare to head to the West Coast for races against several nationally ranked opponents.
The California Golden Bears (1st), Stanford Cardinal (8th), and Syracuse Orange (9th), all present formidable challenges for the Bears, who have already faced off against the nation's top team in the Washington Huskies. Brown's V8 has won two of their three races this season, adding in a second place finish against the aforementioned Huskies in Sarasota on Mar. 29.
The 2V8 has two podium finishes this season, defeating Boston University in the first race of the spring and finishing second overall on Mar. 29 at the Sarasota Invitational. The 3V8 and 4V8 have had identical finishes this season, finishing first overall against Boston University, second overall on Mar. 28 at the Sarasota Invitational, and third overall on Mar. 29 in Sarasota.
These strong performances across the board have elevated the Bears from being ranked ninth in the country in the IRCA/IRA Preseason Poll to third in the nation in the IRCA/IRA Week 1 Poll, which was released on Apr. 9.
With the Bears climbing up the polls, junior V8 stroker David Person commented on the team's preparation for the upcoming races. "We are confident in our preparation and are excited to test our speed against some of the top West Coast crews this weekend," said Person.
