Men's and Women's Crew Prepare for 60th Head of the Charles Regatta

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Brown men's and women's crew will head to Cambridge, Massachusetts this weekend to compete in the 60th Head of the Charles Regatta on the Charles River. The men's program, coming off a first place finish at the Head of the Housatonic last weekend in Shelton, Connecticut, will look to continue their strong showing in the fall portion of their schedule.Â
The men hit the water on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 1:30 p.m., with two boats racing out of bows #10 and #35 in the Men's Club Eights. On Sunday, Oct. 19, the Men's Championship Fours is slated to start at 1:05 p.m. with the Bears racing out of bow #4. Later that afternoon, the Bears will race in the Men's Championship Eights at 3:20 p.m. out of bow #16. The Bears Varsity Eight boat, which will be coxed by Elenna Seguin and stroked by Davis Kelly, returns seven starters from last year's crew.  Â
Brown women's crew will start competition with the Women's Club Fours on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 1:04 p.m. On Sunday, Oct. 19, the Bears will have one boat in the Women's Championship Fours race at 1:35 p.m. and two boats in the Women's Championship Eights race at 2:42 p.m. Saturday will mark the first time that Brown women's crew competes since their sixth place finish in the Grand Final at last year's NCAA Championships in West Windsor, New Jersey.
Also competing on Saturday, Oct. 18 are Brown crew alumni, whose schedule is as follows:
Men's Grand Master Eights: 9:11 a.m.
Men's Alumni Eights: 10:56 a.m.
Men's Master/Senior Master Eights: 12:22 p.m.
Men's Club Eights: 1:30 p.m.
