Baseball to Host Dartmouth for Three-Game Weekend

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown baseball team will continue its eight-game homestand this weekend with a three-game visit from Dartmouth. Due to the weather forecast, the series will now feature a doubleheader on Friday and a single game on Saturday.

SCOUTING BROWN (5-19, 1-8 Ivy)
- Brown is coming off a three-game sweep at the hands of Yale at home last weekend.
- Brown ranks sixth in the Ivy League in team batting average at .244 but ranks No. 2 in the league with a .304 batting average against lefties (51-for-168), just behind Cornell (.306).
- The Bears rank second in the Ivy League with 14 sacrifice bunts this season, trailing only Yale, who leads the nation with 37.
- Freshman Christian Butera leads the league with a .366 batting average and is second in the league with a .648 slugging percentage.
- Senior pitcher Santhosh Gottam ranks third in the league by allowing just 2.41 walks per nine innings.
- Junior infielder DJ Dillehay has reached base safely in seven straight games and ranks third on the team with a .301 batting average.
- Senior outfielder Nathan Brasher has reached base safely in 11 straight games entering the weekend. He has also been hit by a pitch in three of the last four games.
- Brasher also leads the team with seven solen bases.
- Senior Gunner Boree leads the team with five home runs this season, including two in his last three games.
SCOUTING DARTMOUTH (5-16, 4-5 Ivy)
- The Big Green are off to a 4-5 start in Ivy league play, losing three straight to Princeton, and taking two of three from Penn and Harvard.
- Sophomore infielder Ethan Brown ranks fourth in the league with a .346 batting average, with junior infielder Taer Rodriguez next at .338.
- Brown is a perfect 8-for-8 on steal attempts.
- The pitching staff holds a 6.55 ERA, good for third in the league. Their 136 strikeouts ranks as the second-fewest in the Ivy League.
- Sophomore Nate Isler has allowed three or fewer earned runs in four of his six starts this season.
- Dartmouth ranks just ahead of Brown with a .246 team batting average.
