Men's Lacrosse Returns to Ivy League Play at Yale

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown Bears (3-5, 0-1 Ivy League) head to New Haven to take on the Yale Bulldogs (1-5, 0-2 Ivy League) in a crucial conference matchup at Reese Stadium. Saturday's game is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. and will stream on ESPN+ in the United States.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
- The Bears are coming off an 8-7 road win over 16th-ranked UMass in the non-conference finale at Garber Field. Brown looks to draw back to even in conference play after suffering a 9-8 road loss at Penn earlier in March.
- Brown averages 7.75 goals per game with Marcus Wertheim leading the team offensively with 14 goals and 23 points. The junior has points in 12 straight games dating back to last season.
- Brown's man-up offense ranks sixth in the conference and 39th nationally at .350 (7-20). Aidan McLane leads the team with three man-up goals.
- Defensively, Brown ranks third in the conference and 22nd nationally with 9.75 goals against per game.
- Connor Foley holds a .601 save percentage and .945 goals against average in eight starts this season.
- The man-down defense ranks fourth in the Ivy League at .556 (15-27).
- Dash Sachs ranks third in the conference with a .532 faceoff win percentage (74-139).
- Yale enters the weekend with a 1-5 overall record and 0-2 Ivy League mark.
- After beating Denver to snap a three-game losing streak, Yale fell to #13 Harvard and #4 Cornell to begin Ivy play. The Bulldogs are 1-4 against ranked teams this season.
- Yale averages 10.50 goals per game to rank fifth in the conference and 48th nationally. Chris Lyons leads the team with 12 goals with Leo Johnson leading the team in assists (8) and points (18).
- Yale's man-up offense has nine goals in 30 attempts (.300) to rank seventh in the conference.
- Defensively, Yale allows 14.17 goals per game to rank seventh in the Ivy.
- Hugh Conrad has started all six games in goal and holds a .440 save percentage and 15.23 goals against average.
- The man-down defense ranks second in the conference and 31st nationally at .650 (13-20).
- Machado Rodriguez leads the Ivy League and ranks 22nd nationally with a .574 faceoff percentage (74-129). He leads the Ivy and ranks ninth nationally with 7.50 ground balls per game.
- Saturday marks the 68th meeting between the Bears and Bulldogs dating back to 1927. The Bears hold a 35-32 all-time record against Yale, but the Bulldogs have a 13-2 record in the last 15 meetings dating back to 2010.
- The Bears grinded out an 8-7 win over 16th-ranked UMass in the non-conference finale Saturday at Garber Field.
- Trailing 7-5 entering the fourth, Brown held UMass scoreless and Jeremy Hopsicker tallied the final two goals, including the winner with 8 seconds remaining, to give Brown the win.
- Hopsicker recorded his second consecutive hat trick in the win. Marcus Wertheim added two goals and an assist, and Ennis Udo chipped in with two assists.
- Connor Foley tallied 13 saves, four ground balls, and a caused turnover to pick up the win.
- Through eight games, Foley holds a .601 save percentage and 9.45 goals against average.
- His save percentage is second in the Ivy League and ranks eighth nationally.
- His goals against average is third in the Ivy League and 22nd nationally.
- He is second in the conference and tied for eighth nationally with 13.38 saves per game.
- Jeremy Hopsicker tallied a career-high four goals against Villanova (Mar. 17) to record his first career hat trick. He added another hat trick in the 8-7 win at UMass (Mar. 22).
- The junior is third on the team in goals (10) and points (12).
- Marcus Wertheim has points in every game this season and leads the team in goals (14), assists (9), and points (23).
- Dating back to last season, Wertheim has points in 12 consecutive games and a goal in 10 straight games.
- Over the 12-game point streak, he has 19 goals and 15 assists for 34 points.
