Men’s Lacrosse Cruises to 13-8 Win at St. John's

QUEENS, N.Y. - The Brown men's lacrosse team (5-3, 0-1) cruised to a 13-8 win at St. John's (2-7, 0-0) in its non-conference finale on Saturday afternoon.
"Proud of the way our team competed today in a quick three-day turnaround scenario," Rothman Head Coaching Chair for Men's Lacrosse Jon Torpey said. "St. John's is a very well-coached team and we knew we would get their very best for 60 minutes. We have a lot to clean up as we prepare for our next Ivy League game but this team continues to work and grow."
Five non-conference wins for the Bears is the most since the 2022 season.
Marcus Wertheim tallied three goals and three assists. In two games this week, Wertheim tallied seven goals and three assists. Jeremy Hopsicker added four goals in the win, Hopsicker tallied seven goals in two wins this week. Brady O'Kane netted a hat trick in the win while Ennis Udo, Baden Brown, and Max Warden all found the back of the net. For Warden, it was his first-career goal.
Connor stopped 12 shots in the win to go along with four ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Brown outscored St. John's 4-0 in the first quarter behind three goals from Hopsicker and one from Warden, Wertheim assisted on all three first quarter goals by Hopsicker. Foley stopped five shots in the opening 15 minutes.
A goal by Udo extended the Brown lead to 5-0 to open the game before St. John's launched a 2-0 run. After the run by the Red Storm, the Bears responded with goals Wertheim and Brown, extending its lead to 7-2 heading into halftime. Foley had nine first half saves as the Bears outshot the Red Storm 22-20 (13-11 on goal) in the opening 30 minutes.
The Bears and Red Storm traded goals in the third quarter with each team finding the back of the net three times. O'Kane scored twice in the quarter while Hopsicker tallied his fourth as the Bears took a 10-5 advantage into the final 15 minutes.
In the fourth, Brown and St. John's each scored three goals, Wertheim completed his hat trick with two goals and O'Kane also completed his hat trick with one goal.
In the second half, Brown outshot St. John's 24-19 (14-9 on goal).

Brown will return home to continue Ivy League play against Princeton on Saturday, Mar. 28, the opening face-off is scheduled for 12 p.m. at Stevenson-Pincince Field. Fans can purchase tickets here.
