FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Brown Softball (8-7) split a doubleheader with Sacred Heart (7-10) on Saturday (March 15). The Bears took game one, 3-0, behind a stellar performance from Alexis Guevara before dropping game two, 12-7.
Guevara (4-2) recorded her second complete game shutout of the season in game one as the senior scattered seven hits over seven innings and struck out eight batters. Guevera has allowed just one run in her last 20 innings.
Freshman Amanda Deng's performance also rang in some excitement, as she recorded her first career home run in game two.

Following scoreless first and second innings, Kaicee Klus took advantage of a throwing error to get the Bears on the board with a run in the top of the third.
The score remained 1-0 throughout the fourth and fifth innings as the Bears remained looking for their first hit of the game.
Laurel Moody started the top of the sixth with a walk. Liv Kam entered as a pinch hitter and was able to advance to second following a bunt from Amanda Deng. Guevara then reached first on a fielding error and advanced to second while Kam advanced to third.
After a strikeout, Cameron Zytkewicz Ray doubled up the middle to score Guevara and Kam, bumping the Bears' lead to 3-0.
That was all Brown would need as Guevara got out of a two-runner jam in the sixth with a flyout and a strikeout and then set the side down in order in the seventh.

Sacred Heart showed up swinging in game two, outsourcing the Bears 6-0 in the firs three innings.

The Pioneers went on a run starting in the bottom of the fifth scoring six runs over the next two innings to lead 11-5 heading into the top of the seventh.
Following a ground-out from Deng in the top of the seventh, Klus and Moody walked. Abby Bettencourt then pinch hit for Annie Finch, followed by a pinch run by Liv Kam for Moody.
