Softball Set For Road Games at Sacred Heart and Holy Cross Over Weekend

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown softball remains on the road this weekend with doubleheaders at Sacred Heart at Holy Cross. The games at Sacred Heart will be streamed on Pioneers+ and the games at Holy Cross will be on ESPN+.
The Bears will start the weekend with two games at Sacred Heart on Saturday (March 15) with first pitch against the Pioneers set for 12 p.m. On Sunday (March 16), Brown will be at Holy Cross with a doubleheader beginning at 12:30 p.m.

THE FIRST PITCH
The Bears are coming off a 1-3 weekend in Nashville, earning a win over Lipscomb.
Brown's Laurel Moody was named Ivy League Player of the Week after leading the Bears at the plate, hitting .462 and slugging .846 in four games over the weekend. Moody finished the weekend with six hits, two doubles, a home run and four RBI. Moody finished with at least one hit in three of the four games. In the double header against Lipscomb, Moody finished with five hits, two doubles and four RBI.
Alexis Guevara earned Ivy League Pitcher of the Week honors after dominating in the circle, finishing the weekend with an 0.69 ERA in 13.0 innings pitched and striking out nine batters, while holding opponents to a .133 batting average. Guevara threw a complete game shutout against Lipscomb, allowing just two hits and allowed just four hits and one run against Belmont.
SCOUTING SACRED HEART
Sacred Heart comes into the week with a 6-9 record with losses to Maine and Yale last weekend.
Elle Leckrone leads Sacred Heart with a .389 batting average. Savannah Moore has a team-high three doubles, three home runs and 12 RBI while hitting .356.
In the circle, Sam Kowalski has a team-best 2.54 ERA in 41.1 innings pitched. Kowalski also has a staff-best 43 strikeouts.
INSIDE THE SERIES
Brown is 3-0 all-time against Sacred Heart. The last meeting came back in 2006 when Brown won 4-3. All three contests have been decided by one run.
SCOUTING HOLY CROSS
Holy Cross is 4-11 on the year and has lost five-straight games. Holy Cross will play Siena before hosting Brown on Sunday.
The Crusaders lost 7-2 in the first game to Yale before falling 13-4 in five innings in game two.
Ali Sniegocki is the lone batter hitting over .300, hitting .304 and leads the team with 14 hits, four doubles and two home runs.
Jordan Goedel leads the pitching staff with a 4.38 ERA in 38.1 innings. Goedel has 39 strikeouts on the season.

The Bears are 24-16 against Holy Cross with the two teams splitting doubleheaders each of the last two seasons. In the last meetings in Worcester, Brown lost game one 2-1 before winning 9-1 in the second game of the night.

Moody leads the Ivy League in slugging percentage (.806) and total bases (29) and her four home runs are tied for the team lead.
Moody is one hit shy of 100 career hits and is one home run shy of tying for fifth in Brown program history with 14 career home runs. Moody is one home run shy of her career-high home run mark (5) which was set in her freshman year.
GUEVARA 'K'LIMBING THE LADDER
Alexis Guevara sits on top of the Ivy League in strikeouts (45) by 13 and is second in the league in both ERA (1.84) and opposing batting average (.190). The senior sits 26th in the NCAA in strikeout to walk ratio (5.63) and 46th in the nation in strikeouts per seven innings (8.3).
Guevara currently sits at 290 career strikeouts and would become the third Bear in program history to reach 300 career strikeouts.
CAREY AT THE BAT
Leah Carey is tied for the team lead with four multi-hit games on the season. Carey is second on the team with a .289 and has 11 hits. She is tied with Cameron Zytkewicz Ray and Lily Berlinger with a team-high nine runs scored.
