Women's Basketball Readies for Back-to-Back at Columbia and Cornell This Weekend

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown women's basketball team will hit the road for their final back-to-back of the season this weekend. The Bears will travel to New York to take on the Columbia Lions at Francis S. Levien Gymnasium on Friday evening. The contest will tip-off at 4 p.m. The team will then head to Newman Arena to face the Cornell Big Red at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
Both games will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

Scouting the Bears (10-14, 4-7 Ivy)
- The Bears suffered a hard-fought loss to the Harvard Crimson last Saturday afternoon. A tight competition all the way through, the Crimson were able to pull away by just three points.
- Three Bears finished Saturday's game in double figures. Junior guard Grace Arnolie led the team with 17 points, junior forward Beth Nelson, and senior center Gianna Aiello tied for the second-most points with 11.
- Brown shot 41.7% from the floor, and 44.4% from beyond the arc, compared to Harvard's 38.8% and 20.7%.
- Aiello finds herself back in the top three in the conference in rebounding. She averages 7.6 per game.
- The Bears currently rank second in the Ivy League in three-pointers made, averaging 7.6 per game.
- Arnolie heads into Brown's final three games in 20th place in career points with 1,048. She also ranks eighth in career three-pointers made with 150.
- Senior guard Isabella Mauricio is positioned behind Arnolie in career points in 21st place with 1,043 points. Mauricio is also third in program history in career three-pointers made with 210.
- The Bears look to come out on top this weekend, and get one step closer to Ivy Madness.
- The Lions earned a 64-60 win over the Princeton Tigers last Saturday, bouncing back from their previous loss to Harvard.
- Riley Weiss scored more than half of Columbia's points against the Tigers. Weiss netted 34 points, leading the Lions. Kitty Henderson scored 14Â points, trailing Weiss by 20.
- Weiss is also second in scoring in the Ivy League, averaging 18.3 points per game.
- Columbia currently sits in the top 50 in the NET rankings, holding on to 42nd.
- The Lions rank first in offense in the conference, putting up an average of 73.4 points per game. On the flip side, Columbia's defense is second in the Ivy League just below Harvard. The Lions have held their opponents to 59.1 points per game.Â
- Columbia is the only team above Brown in three-pointers made. The Lions average 7.8 triples per game compared to the Bears' 7.6.
- The Big Red kept competition close on Saturday against Penn, but ultimately fell 63-68 to the Quakers.
- Four of Cornell's players finished Saturday's contest in double figures. Summer Parker-Hall led the team with 17 points. Emily Pape scored the second- most points with 13. Rachel Kaus and Clarke Jackson followed with 12 and 10 points respectively.
- Cornell's offense sits at last place in the Ivy League, posting an average of only 53.5 points per game. Cornell's defense is ranked fourth, allowing around 60 points per game.
- The Big Red's Emily Pape and Summer Parker-Hall occupy ninth and 10th place in rebounding in the conference. Pape averages 5.6 rebounds per game, while Parker-Hall averages 5.5.
- Cornell's Summer Parker-Hall ranks third in field goal percentage behind Brown's Gianna Aiello. Parker-Hall has .573, while Aiello has .575.
- The Bears have a 50-31 overall record against the Lions dating back to the 1975-76 season.
- The last time that Brown beat Columbia was on Feb. 10, 2018. The Bears have been on a 12 game losing streak since that game, and look to make a comeback against the Lions.
- Brown has a 57-32 all-time record against Cornell that dates back to the 1974-75 season.
- The Bears are currently on a four-game win streak against the Big Red.
