Women’s Basketball Travels to New York to Face Cornell and Columbia Over Long Weekend

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown women's basketball team will travel to New York over the long weekend, taking on Cornell (Saturday) and Columbia (Monday). Saturday's tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. inside of Newman Arena, with Monday's contest tipping-off at 2 p.m. inside of Levien Arena.
Both contests will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

Scouting the Bears (10-4, 2-0 Ivy)
- In their last time out, the Bears defeated the Penn Quakers 77-65 in a double overtime thriller at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
- Last Saturday's win marked Brown's 10th win, helping the Bears improve to a 2-0 clean sheet in Ivy League play and 5-0 inside of the Pizzitola Sports Center.
- First-year forward/guard Isabella Welsey earned her second Ivy League Rookie of the Week for her performance against the Quakers.
- Senior guard Grace Arnolie led the way for the Bears with 24 points against the Quakers. Arnolie's performance marked her 11th consecutive game in double figures, and fifth 20 point game this season. She is now six points from moving into 10th place in career scoring.
- Senior forward Ada Anamekwe had one of her best games of the season last Saturday, setting multiple season-highs. She netted 13 points, made seven free throws, and grabbed nine rebounds. Anamekwe made her way to the starting lineup for the first time this season, after making eight appearances upon returning from injury.
- Brown's defense continues to hold strong, ranking second in the Ivy League. The Bears have allowed an average of 55.9 points per game this season.
- The Bears also continue to lead the conference in combined team rebounds (43.1/g) and team defensive rebounds (28.9/g). They rank second in offensive rebounds (14.1/g).
- With help from senior forward Alyssa Moreland, Brown has the third-highest team field goal percentage in the Ivy League at .412.
- Moreland leads the Ivy League in rebounding with an average of 10.7 per game. She also has the third-highest field goal percentage in the conference at .535.
- Arnolie leads the Ivy League in scoring with an average of 17.6 points per game.
- The Big Red rounded out non-conference play on Tuesday afternoon against SUNY Delhi, defeating the DIII opponent 106-27. Prior to that, Cornell defeated Dartmouth 61-52 on Jan. 10.
- Cornell's other conference win came against Columbia on Jan. 3, when it defeated the Lions 67-60.
- The Big Red's top scorer, Rachel Kaus, averages 11.6 points per game. Kaus is the highest-ranked player from Cornell in the Ivy League in scoring,holding on to 12th.
- Emily Pape leads the conference in three-point field goal percentage with .318.
- Cornell's defense sits at the halfway mark of the conference, allowing an average of 58.3 points per game.
- The Big Red has the third-best team three-point percentage in the Ivy at .311.
- Cornell was selected to finish seventh in the Ivy League Preseason Poll.
- The Big Red added five newcomers to their squad in the offseason.
- In their last time out, the Lions narrowly defeated Harvard 58-55 on Jan. 10.
- Columbia's lone conference loss came against Cornell on Jan. 3 (60-67).
- The Lions return two notable players in Riley Weiss and Perri Page. Weiss leads the Lions in scoring, averaging 17.2 points per game. Page follows close behind with 14.6 points per game.
- Weiss ranks second in the Ivy League in scoring, with Page in sixth. Page also has the best field goal percentage in the conference with .540.
- Columbia boasts the second-best offense in the Ivy League, putting up an average of 70.7 points per game.
- The Lions have the second-highest team field goal percentage at .432.
- The Bears hold a 60-32 record over Cornell, dating back to 1974.
- Brown is 6-4 against the Big Red in its last 10 matchups.
- The Bears have won the last five-straight games against Cornell, dating back to 2023.
- Brown holds a 50-32 record over Columbia, dating back to 1975.
- The Lions have earned the last 10 wins against the Bears.
- Brown last defeated Columbia 84-80 in 2018.
