2/22/2025 2:57:00 PM | Men's Lacrosse
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Connor Foley shined again with 19 saves as the Brown Bears (1-2, 0-0 Ivy League) picked up the first win of the Jon Torpey era with a 7-6 home victory over the Providence College Friars (2-2, 0-0 Big East) Saturday afternoon at Stevenson-Pincince Field.
"I'm really happy for our young men and proud of their overall effort," Torpey said. "They truly dug in when we needed them to. Providence is a great program with an excellent staff and we needed our best effort for 60 minutes if we were going to succeed."
Aidan McLane rifled a feed from Jeremy Hopsicker to beat PC goalie Dan Donahue (15 saves) to open the scoring with 9:19 remaining in the first quarter. McLane added his second of the game with 5:15 remaining to push Brown's lead to 2-0.
Marcus Wertheim made it three straight for the Bears with a man-up goal off a feed from Hopsicker with 1:57 remaining in the first.
Foley (19 saves) was stellar again and finished the first quarter with seven saves and a caused turnover.

McLane tallied his third of the game to make it 6-5 before PC's Albert Paniccia responded less than a minute later to push the score to 6-6 with 7:05 remaining in the third quarter.
