Men’s Basketball Welcomes Columbia and Cornell This Weekend

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown men's basketball team (12-10, 4-5) will conclude its homestand this weekend when they welcome Columbia (12-10, 1-8) on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. before welcoming Cornell (13-9, 5-4) at 6:00 p.m.
Scott Cordischi, Russ Tyler '71, and Nick Coit will bring you the action live on ESPN+ for both games while Jake Levin, Kevin McNamara, and Nick Coit will bring you the action on the Brown Varsity Network via the Brown Bears app, Varsity Network app, or BrownBears.com.
Friday night's game against Columbia will be Brown's Mental Health Awareness Game, there will also be a student giveaway. On Saturday against Cornell, Brown will host Hawaiian Night.
Last Time Out
Brown completed a weekend sweep last weekend with a 70-56 win over Princeton (Feb. 14) and an 82-72 win over Penn (Feb. 15), both wins were wire-to-wire victories.
It was the eighth time in program history that Brown swept Princeton and Penn in the same weekend, and the first time since 2010.
History Made, The Chase Continues
Kino Lilly Jr. is now the all-time leader in program history with 321 three-pointers made. Lilly Jr. also sits second all-time in career points with 1,821, he is 221 points away from being the all-time program scoring leader.
Lilly Jr. ranks third in Ivy League history in three-pointers made (321). Against Dartmouth (Jan. 25), Lilly Jr. became the third player in Ivy League history and the first player in program history to hit 300 three-pointers.
The Glenn Dale, Md. native is 13 three-pointers away from breaking Brown's single season record of 93 set by Sean McGonagill during the 2013-14 season.
Ivy Iverson
Kino Lilly Jr. is averaging 18.9 points per game on 42.2 percent shooting from the field and 43.3 percent shooting from three-point range this season. He is also shooting 46.3 percent from three-point range in Ivy League play.
The senior is averaging 3.68 three-pointers per game and is on pace to hit 99 three-pointers, his pace would put him third in Ivy League history for most three-pointers made in a single season behind Ryan Wittman (Cornell) who hit 109 during the 2009-10 season and Matt Morgan (Cornell) who hit 107 during the 2018-19 season.
His 3.68 three-pointers per game ranks third in the nation, his 81 total three-pointers made sits 19th nationally, and his 18.9 points per game ranks 40th nationally.
The senior's 321 career three-pointers ranks 17th in the nation among active players.
Cooley Continues To Impress
Aaron Cooley is averaging 10.8 points and 6.5 rebounds per game this season, the senior has double-figure scoring efforts in 13 out of 22 games. Cooley scored a career-high 28 points in Brown's 83-82 win at Cornell (Jan. 20), he also had a career-high 10 field goals made against the Big Red.
Cooley's 28 points was the second-most by a Bear this season. The Roxbury, Mass. native shot 10-13 from the floor and 3-3 from three-point range, all three of Cooley's triples came in the first half. Cooley shot a perfect 4-4 from the floor in the second half while grabbing seven total rebounds.
Cooley also had a career-high 15 rebounds in Brown's season opener at Siena (Nov. 4). Cooley's 15 rebounds is the third-most by an Ivy League player this season; he's recorded double-digit rebounds in four games.
Cooley is shooting 47.3 percent from the floor this season and is shooting 48.5 percent in Ivy League play and his 6.5 rebounds per game ranks sixth in the Ivy League.
Lewis' Leap
In the absence of Nana Owusu-Anane, Landon Lewis has scored in double figures in 16 out of 18 games played this season.
Lewis has scored 15 or more points in nine out of 18 games played, Lewis netted a career-high 21 points in Brown's win over Bryant (Dec. 6) on 9-12 shooting from the floor.
Lewis recorded his first career double-double in Brown's win over Sacred Heart (Nov. 17) with 14 points and 11 rebounds on a perfect 6-6 shooting; he backed up that effort with 17 points on 8-11 shooting at Canisius (Nov. 23).
Lewis' 2.8 offensive boards per game ranks first in the Ivy League, his 6.7 rebounds per game is fifth in the Ivy League. Lewis' 59.0 field goal percentage ranks 21st in the nation and second in the Ivy League.
The Los Angeles, Calif. native is averaging 13.8 points and 6.7 rebounds per game this season. On the defensive end, Lewis has recorded four or more blocks on four separate occasions. Lewis' 1.70 blocks per game is tied for first in the Ivy League.
Most recently, Lewis scored 20 points on 7-11 shooting from the floor, he also grabbed seven rebounds and matched a career-high five rejections against Penn (Feb. 15). He also shot 6-8 from the free throw line, six made free throws also matched a career-high.
Senior Leadership
Over the last 10 games, Lyndel Erold is shooting 34-64 from the floor and has recorded double-digit scoring efforts in five out of nine Ivy League games.
Erold netted 15 points in Brown's Ivy League opener at Yale (Jan. 11) on 5-8 shooting, Erold then had 11 points on 5-9 shooting at Cornell (Jan. 20). Erold followed up his performance at Cornell with a career-high 20 points with four three-pointers made against Dartmouth (Jan. 25).
At Penn (Jan. 31), Erold grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds, eight of which were defensive. He also had two blocks for the Bears in the final 3:24 of the contest, helping Brown earn the victory.
Erold is shooting 45.3 percent from the floor and 39.3 percent from three-point range in Ivy League action. Most recently, Erold shot 4-5 from the floor in Brown's win over Penn (Feb. 15).
Scouting Columbia (12-10, 1-8)
The Lions will look to snap a two-game losing streak, they're 0-4 on the road in Ivy League action. Columbia's lone Ivy League win came against Brown (Feb. 8).
Geronimo Rubio De La Rosa leads the Lions with 18.0 points per game on 48.5 shooting from the floor and 41.7 shooting from three-point range, the senior hasn't played since Jan. 25.
Scouting Cornell (13-8, 5-4)
Cornell will look to snap a three-game losing streak and will look for its first road win since Jan. 25, the Big Red are 1-2 on the road in Ivy League play.
Cornell is averaging a league-high 83.2 points per game and are shooting a league-high 49.9 percent from the floor this season.
What's Next
Brown will hit the road for its final road trip of the season when they travel to Harvard (Feb. 28) and Dartmouth (Mar. 1).
