Men’s Basketball Comes Up Short at Columbia

NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Brown men's basketball team (9-16, 3-9) came up short at Columbia (16-10, 5-7), falling 80-62 inside Levien Gymnasium on Friday evening.
Landon Lewis led the way offensively for Brown with 18 points to go along with nine rebounds, Luke Paragon added 14 points. Isaiah Langham also scored in double figures with 12 points, the reigning Ivy League Rookie of the Week shot 5-8 from the floor.
Brown outscored Columbia 38-34 inside the paint and 14-7 on fast break points.
The Bears led for the entire first half behind 12 points and seven rebounds from Lewis, Paragon added 10 points in the opening 20 minutes. As a team, Brown shot 47.8 percent from the floor and outrebounded Columbia 19-14. The Bears also outscored the Lions 18-16 inside the paint, they took a 32-31 lead into halftime after leading by as much as seven.
The Lions opened the second half on a 7-0 run to take a 38-32 lead, the Bears responded with an 11-0 run to take a 43-38 lead with 14:14 remaining in the half. After Brown took the lead, Columbia responded with a 10-0 run of its own, taking a 48-43 lead. A layup by Langham cut the deficit to 48-45 with 10:11 remaining.
With the score 48-45, the Lions outscored the Bears 32-17 to earn the victory.
Langham led the way offensively in the final 20 minutes with eight points, Jeremiah Jenkins added seven. On the defensive end, N'famara Dabo had two steals and one block.
Brown will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 28 when it travels to Cornell, tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. inside Newman Arena.
