Men’s Basketball Travels to Columbia and Cornell This Weekend

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown men's basketball team (9-15, 3-8) will travel to Columbia (15-10, 4-7) on Friday before heading to Cornell (12-12, 5-6) on Saturday.
Scott Cordischi and Russ Tyler '71 will bring you the action for both games live on the Brown Varsity Network, fans can access the Brown Varsity Network via the Brown Bears app, Varsity Network app, or BrownBears.com. Both games will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
Last Time Out
Brown picked up its second-straight victory with an 80-71 triumph over Princeton (Feb. 20) inside the Pizzitola Sports Center. The Bears shot a season-high 61.2 percent from the floor in the win, Landon Lewis led the way offensively with 21 points while Luke Paragon netted a career-high 20 points.
Langham Named Rookie of the Week
Isaiah Langham was Ivy League Rookie of the Week for the fifth time this season. The Stoughton, Mass. native is now the fifth player in program history to be named Ivy League Rookie of the Week during their freshman year.
Last week against Princeton, Langham scored 11 points on 4-5 shooting from the floor and 2-3 shooting from beyond the arc. Langham also grabbed three rebounds to go along with two steals. Overall, Langham is averaging 8.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 1.0 assists, and 0.9 steals per game.
Scouting Brown
Jeremiah Jenkins leads the Ivy League in total assists (126), assists per game (5.3), total steals (46), and steals per game (1.9). Lewis leads the Ivy League with 19.1 points per game during conference play, his 7.9 rebounds per game during conference play ranks second.
Since reentering the starting lineup, Malcolm Wrisby-Jefferson is averaging 7.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 2.4 steals per game. Most recently, Wrisby-Jefferson had eight assists and one turnover against Princeton.
Dating back to the start of the second half at Dartmouth (Feb. 14), Brown is shooting 64.4 percent from the floor and 53.8 percent from beyond the arc.
Scouting Columbia
The Lions lead the Ivy League in rebounds per game (39.9), offensive rebounds per game (12.7), defensive rebounds per game (27.2) and rebounding margin (9.2).
Columbia has three players averaging five or more rebounds in Zine Eddine Bedri (7.4), Connor Igoe (5.5), and Mason Ritter (5.0). The Lions have six players averaging four or more rebounds per game.
Kenny Noland leads the Ivy League in free throw percentage (91.3), he also ranks second in three-pointers made per game (2.6), and fourth in scoring (16.8).
Scouting Cornell
The Big Red lead the Ivy League in points per game (88.8), three-pointers per game (12.7), assist/turnover ratio (1.77), assists per game (21.2), and fastbreak points (14.1).
Cooper Noard leads the Ivy League in points per game (18.4) and three-pointers made per game (2.7). Jake Fiegan ranks fifth in the Ivy League in points per game (16.6).
Cornell has lost two-straight games inside Newman Arena.
History
Brown is 15-10 against Columbia under Men's Basketball Head Coaching Chair Mike Martin '04, the Bears picked up an 86-80 overtime win over Columbia earlier this season.
Against Cornell, Brown is 11-14 under Martin. The Big Red earned an 89-67 win over the Bears earlier this season. The Bears have won two-straight games at Newman Arena.
