Men’s Basketball Falls 86-80 in Tight Affair at Cornell

ITHACA, N.Y. - The Brown men's basketball team (9-17, 3-10) fell 86-80 in a tight affair at Cornell (14-12, 7-6) on Saturday evening inside Newman Arena.
Landon Lewis scored a team-high 20 points on 10-17 shooting from the floor, the senior also collected 10 rebounds and three assists. Adrian Uchidiuno matched a career-high with 16 points on 5-11 shooting, Luke Paragon also added 11 points.
The Bears outscored the Big Red 44-24 in the paint and 12-7 on second chance points, the contest featured 13 lead changes.
Brown scored 26 of its 45 first half points inside the paint, highlighted by 14 points and seven rebounds from Lewis. The Bears shot 5-9 from beyond the arc in the opening 20 minutes as Paragon buried two.
The opening 20 minutes featured 11 lead changes as the Bears led by as much as seven points, the Big Red took a 46-45 lead into the second half.
Cornell outscored Brown 40-35 in the second half as the final 20 minutes featured just two lead changes. Brown continued to control the paint, outscoring Cornell 18-12. Uchidiuno netted nine of his 16 points in the second half.
The Bears' defense forced eight turnovers by the Big Red, Uchidiuno had two steals in the final 20 minutes. Brown assisted on eight of its 12 made field goals as Paragon led the way with two. Cornell led by as much as 14 in the second half and Brown cut the deficit to just four with 21 seconds remaining, but it wasn't enough, as the Big Red prevailed with the victory.
Brown will conclude the regular season on Friday, Mar. 6 when it welcomes Penn, tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. inside the Pizzitola Sports Center. Fans can purchase tickets here.
