
Women’s Basketball Drops First Ivy League Contest to Dartmouth

PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Brown women's basketball team (6-8, 0-1 Ivy) lost their first conference contest of the season 48-64 to the Dartmouth Big Green (7-7, 1-0 Ivy).
Junior forward Alyssa Moreland led the Bears in scoring, posting 13 points against Dartmouth. Moreland also snagged nine rebounds against the Big Green.
A pair of free throws from Moreland put the Bears on the board early in the first quarter. The Big Green netted two triples, giving them an 8-2 edge over the Bears. Sophomore guard Olivia Young hit a three to put a stop to Dartmouth's run. First-year forward Aima Ofunrein capped off Brown's scoring with a layup toward the end of the quarter. Dartmouth held on to the lead 17-9 at the conclusion of the first 10.
Brown stayed on Dartmouth throughout the duration of the second quarter, holding them to 10 points ahead of the break. The Bears netted 16 points, catching up to Dartmouth. The Big Green were one basket ahead of Brown heading into halftime (27-25).
Coming out of the break, the Big Green held the Bears to seven points in the third quarter. Olivia Austin, Cate MacDonald, Zeynep Olzel, and Victoria Page contributed to Dartmouth's 20 points in the third quarter.
The Bears tried to rally in the final quarter, but ultimately came up short against the Big Green.

The Bears will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 11 when they host the Yale Bulldogs for their second Ivy matchup of the season. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
