Women’s Basketball Downs Dartmouth 64-56 on Saturday Afternoon

HANOVER, N.H.- The Brown women's basketball (9-9, 3-2 Ivy) team defeated the Dartmouth Big Green (8-10,2-3 Ivy) 64-56, at Leede Arena on Saturday afternoon. Saturday's win marks Brown's second win in a row, and third conference win of the season.
Junior forward Alyssa Moreland had herself a career game against the Big Green, posting her third double-double. Moreland set new career-highs with 21 points, 16 rebounds, and seven free throws. She also led the Bears in scoring and rebounding.
Junior guard Grace Arnolie followed behind Moreland, scoring the second-most points against Dartmouth with 18. Arnolie had six rebounds and assists, and went 7-7 in free throws.
Dartmouth controlled the first quarter of the game, scoring 13 points to Brown's five. Brown outscored Dartmouth in the second quarter, but were just two points shy of tying things up ahead of the break. The Bears shot 62.5% from the field in the second quarter, a game-best. Dartmouth ultimately led 22-20 at halftime.
The Bears came back from the break ready to put in the work. Sophomore guard Olivia Young, Moreland, and Arnolie kept Brown in the game totaling 16 points in the third quarter. The Bears trailed by just one point heading into the final 10.
Brown kicked things up a notch in the fourth quarter, rallying to add a tally to their win column. Alyssa Moreland hit a layup, giving the Bears the lead just 30 seconds into the final quarter. A made free throw from Moreland would extend Brown's lead by another point. Around the halfway point of the quarter, the Big Green's Nina Minicozzi made a pair of free throws knotting things up at 43. Things were tied up once again after a pair of free throws from Arnolie, and a jumper from Dartmouth's Alexandra Eldredge.
The Bears were making a comeback, and were not letting anything stop them. Gia Powell hit a three-pointer pushing the Bears ahead of the Big Green, marking the start of an eight point run. Brown went on to net a total of 28 points in the fourth quarter, earning them a win over Dartmouth.

The Bears will head home to host Penn and Princeton for back-to-back matchups at the Pizzitola Sports Center. Friday night's contest against Penn is set to tip-off at 7 p.m., with Saturday night's tip-off scheduled for 5 p.m.
