Women’s Basketball Welcomes Penn for Ivy Home Opener on Saturday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown women's basketball team returns home to host the Penn Quakers for its home-opening Ivy League contest. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. inside of the Pizzitola Sports Center.
The contest will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

Scouting the Bears (9-4, 1-0 Ivy)
- The Bears earned their first Ivy win of the season in their Ivy opener at Yale on Monday, defeating the Bulldogs 88-72.
- For the second game straight, five Bears posted double-figures in their win over Yale: Alyssa Moreland (23), Grace Arnolie (21), Olivia Young (13), Ada Anamekwe (11), and Isabella Wesley (10).
- Moreland led the Bears in scoring with a season-high 23 points. She shot 10-15 from the field and grabbed 13 rebounds. Moreland's performance marks her 10th double-double of her career, and fifth of this season. Moreland continues to lead the conference in rebounding (10.8/g) and field goal percentage (.554).
- Arnolie posted 21 points, seven assists and four rebounds. Arnolie's 21 points marks the 18th 20-point game of her career. She has also posted double-figures in all 10 games that she has competed in this season. Arnolie is the third-highest scorer in the Ivy League.
- Anamekwe clocked 25 minutes of playing time in Monday's contest, the most this season since her return from injury on Nov. 19. She shot 5-8 from the field, grabbed six rebounds, and posted three steals.
- Brown's 88 points are the most scored against a DI opponent since the Bears' 89-85 win over Holy Cross in 2018.
- Brown leads the Ivy League in defensive (28.4/g) and combined team rebounds (42.4/g), and ranks second in offensive rebounds (13.8/g).
- The Bears boast the second-best defense in the conference allowing an average of 55.2 points per game.
- The Quakers hosted No. 24 Princeton in their Ivy opener on Jan. 3, dropping the contest 68-74 to the Tigers.
- Katie Collins leads the way for Penn, averaging 13.2 points per game. Collins trails Moreland in rebounding with 7.8 per game, and rounds out the top-10 scorers in the Ivy League.
- Tina Njike ranks seventh in the conference in field goal percentage with .481. Collins makes the top-10 cutoff at .463.
- Collins (second) and Njike (seventh) rank within the top-10 in blocked shots with an average of 1.7 and 1.0 respectively.
- The Quakers' defense rounds out the Ivy's top-three, holding their opponents to an average of 55.9 points per game.
- Penn's .307 three-point field goal percentage and 7.1 threes per game rank them third in the Ivy League in both categories.
- The Quakers added four new additions to their squad in the offseason in Ruke Ogbevire, Ari Paraskevopoulou, Kate Lipatova, and Sarah Gordon.
- Penn was selected to finish fourth in the Ivy League Preseason Poll.
- Penn holds the edge in this series, with a 57-38 record.
- The Bears have won three of the last 10 contests against the Quakers.
- Last season Brown and Penn split the series, each winning their contest at home.
