Men's Hockey Heads to Merrimack for Non-Conference Matchup

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown Bears (6-9-2, 4-7-1 ECAC) take on the Merrimack Warriors (9-12-1, 5-7-1 HEA) in non-conference action Tuesday night at Lawler Rink in North Andover, Massachusetts.
Tomorrow night's game is set for a 7 p.m. puck drop and will stream on ESPN+ in the United States and on Stretch Internet internationally.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
- Brown enters Tuesday night with a 6-9-2 overall record and 4-7-1 conference mark. Brown is coming off a weekend sweep over St. Lawrence and Clarkson to jump back into the thick of the ECAC standings.
- Brown's offense averages 2.1 goals per game with sophomore Max Scott leading the team with 10 goals. Sophomore Tyler Kopff leads the team with 10 assists and freshman Brian Nicholas leads the Bears with 15 points.
- The power play clicks at17.5% (7-40) to rank eighth in the conference and 47th nationally. Nicholas leads the squad with four power play goals and seven points.
- Defensively, Brown allows 2.4 goals per game to rank second in the ECAC and 12th nationally.
- Goaltender Lawton Zacher leads the conference and ranks seventh in the NCAA with a .934 save percentage. His 2.07 goals against average ranks second in the ECAC and 15th in the nation.
- Brown's penalty kill enters the week at 76.9% (40-52) to rank sixth in the ECAC.
- Merrimack enters Tuesday with a 9-12-1 overall record and 5-7-1 Hockey East mark.
- The Warriors have split the last two conference weekends, taking a road win over #2 Boston College and a home win over UMass.
- Merrimack averages 2.4 goals per game to rank 11th in Hockey East and tied for 48th nationally.
- David Sacco and Antonio Venuto lead the team with seven goals apiece. Zach Bookman and Seamus Powell lead the team with nine assists and Bookman leads the Warriors with 12 points.
- Merrimack's power play has 10 goals in 56 attempts (17.9%) to rank tenth in Hockey East and 45th nationally.
- Defensively, Merrimack allows 3.1 goals per game to rank 10th in Hockey East and tied for 46th nationally.
- Between the pipes, Max Lundgren holds a 3.10 goals against average and .899 save percentage in 12 starts. Nils Wallstrom holds a 2.98 goals against and .890 save percentage in six starts.
- Merrimack's penalty kill clicks at 72.3% (47-65) to rank last in Hockey East and 60th nationally.
- Tuesday marks the 17th meeting between Brown and Merrimack dating back to 1975.
- Merrimack holds an 8-6-2 all-time record against Brown with a 4-1-2 home record.
- The Bears picked up its first road win, a 6-2 final, over Merrimack in the last trip to Lawler Rink in January 2023.
- Cole Quisenberry scored twice for the Bears with Matt Sutton (3), Bradley Cocca, Samuli Niinisaari, and Luke Krys all tallying multiple assists.
- Captain Max Scott picked up ECAC Forward of the Week honors following a four-goal weekend at Meehan Auditorium.
- Scott tallied a penalty shot goal in Brown's 3-2 win over St. Lawrence before recording a hat trick in the 4-2 win over Clarkson to close out the weekend.
- The sophomore also matched career-highs with seven shots on goal and four blocked shots against the Golden Knights.
- Scott jumped to 10 goals on the season to lead the team in scoring. His 13 points rank second on the Bears.
- He is tied for fifth in the ECAC in total goals.
- With 0.59 goals per game, Scott is tied with Clarkson's Ayrton Martino for the most in the ECAC. They are tied for 12th in the NCAA in goals per game.
- Ryan St. Louis pushed his point streak to five games with a goal against the Saints and two assists against the Golden Knights.
- The junior has nine points in eight games this season.
- Captain Tony Andreozzi recorded his first career multi-point game with a goal and assist against Clarkson (1/18).
- The senior scored just 43 seconds into the game with his first of the season and added an assist on Scott's game-winning goal late in the third period.
- He also recorded a career-high five shots on goal against Clarkson after posting a career-high seven blocked shots against the Saints (1/17).
- Assistant captain Alex Pineau recorded 10 blocked shots in the two games last weekend, including a career-high seven against St. Lawrence (1/17).
- The sophomore also saved a goal against the Saints, batting the puck off the goal line.
- On the season, Pineau leads the team with 52 blocked shots, nearly double the next player.
- Pineau ranks second in the NCAA with 27:32 minutes of ice time per game, trailing only Northeastern's Vinny Borgesi (27:59).
- The Bears finished the regular season sweep over both St. Lawrence and Clarkson with the two-win weekend.
- It's the first sweep over the Saints since the 2019-20 season.
- It marks just the fourth season sweep over Clarkson in program history and first since the 2009-10 season.
- It is also just the first time the Bears have swept both teams in the same season.
