Men's Lacrosse Drops Non-Conference Finale to Bryant

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Bryant Bulldogs (9-4, 4-2 AE) captured its second straight Ocean State Cup with a 10-7 road victory over the Brown Bears (3-10, 2-3 Ivy League) Tuesday night at Stevenson-Pincince Field.
Aidan McLane led the Bruno offense with three goals and an assist.
"Credit to Bryant," said head coach Mike Daly. "They made the plays they needed to make and made more of them. We will get back to work and get ready for Saturday."
Spencer Hughes and McLane tallied the night's first goals to give the Bears a 2-0 lead with 8:44 remaining in the opening quarter.
Jack Lonsinger cut into the Bruno lead with seven seconds remaining in the opening quarter as the Bears took a 2-1 lead through 15 minutes.
Mark Witt took the opening faceoff of the second quarter and beat the Bryant defense for his first career goal and a 3-1 Brown lead. The Bulldogs responded with a pole goal of their own as Drew Lucas beat Connor Theriault (11 saves) less than a minute later.
Aidan Goltz, Luke Mead, Timmy Hackett, and Johnny Hackett struck for four straight goals in the middle of the second quarter to give Bryant a 6-3 lead at the half.
Lonsinger pushed Bryant's lead to four with a transition goal to open the third quarter to make it 7-3.
Marcus Wertheim ended the Bryant run with his first goal of the night with 13:30 remaining in the third quarter to bring the Bears back within three.
McLane brought the Bears within two off a feed from Wertheim with 5:12 remaining in the third quarter. McLane's shot beat Bryant goalie Scott Einarson (14 saves) five-hole.
Lonsinger found the Johnny Hackett rebound and beat Theriault with a quick ground ball and shot to put the Bulldogs ahead, 8-5, with 12:23 remaining in the fourth.
Kevin Groeninger pushed the Bryant lead to four with 5:02 remaining. Johnny Hackett beat the Brown ride to make it 10-5 with 2:00 remaining.
McLane capped the hat trick with 1:34 remaining after forcing a Sam Klein turnover and beating Einarson with a quick strike. Wertheim made it 10-7 with 1:14 remaining with his second goal of the night.

- Dash Sachs finished the night 13-for-20 with six ground balls at the faceoff X against the nation's best, Nathan Laliberte. Brown ended the night with a 35-31 edge in ground balls.
- Bryant held the advantage in shots, 42-37.
- Neither team found an EMO goal with Brown finishing 0-for-1 and Bryant closing the night 0-for-3.
