Men's Hockey Set to Host Rensselaer and Union in ECAC Weekend

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown Bears (8-11-1, 6-7-0 ECAC) return from the bye week to host the Rensselaer Engineers (7-16-1, 4-8-0 ECAC) on Friday before squaring off against the Union Garnet Chargers (12-11-1, 6-5-1 ECAC) on Saturday at Meehan Auditorium.
Both games are set for a 7 p.m. puck drop and will stream on ESPN+ in the United States and on Stretch Internet internationally.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
- Brown enters the weekend with an 8-11-1 overall record and a 6-7-0 conference mark. The Bears are tied for sixth in the standings alongside St. Lawrence and are coming off a 4-2-0 mark in January.
- Offensively, Brown averages 2.3 goals per game and are led by Ryan St. Louis and his 10 goals and 20 points. Freshman Max Scott leads the team with 11 assists and ranks second on the team with 18 points.
- Brown's power play clicks at 16.7% (11-66) to rank sixth in the ECAC and tied for 42nd nationally. The team have five power play goals over the last six games.
- Defensively, Brown allows 3.0 goals per game to rank fifth in the conference and 30th in the nation.
- Between the pipes, Lawton Zacher holds a 2.51 goals against average and .915 save percentage in 16 starts. The Buffalo, New York native holds a 6-7-1 record.
- Brown's penalty kill enters the weekend ranked 32nd in the nation at 81.2% (52-64). The Bears have allowed two power play goals over the last six games.
- Rensselaer enters the weekend in 12th place with a 7-16-1 overall record and 4-8-0 conference mark.
- RPI has dropped four straight since taking consecutive wins over Brown and St. Lawrence in early January.
- Offensively, Rensselaer scores 2.7 goals per game to rank sixth in the conference and 42nd nationally.
- Tyler Hotson leads the Engineers with eight goals and is fourth on the team with 14 points. Sutter Muzzatti leads the team in assists (13) and points (19).
- RPI's power play clicks at 15.1% (11-73) to rank tenth in the ECAC.
- Rensselaer struggles defensively and rank 61st in the NCAA with 4.2 goals against per game.
- Between the pipes, all three goaltenders have made at least six starts. Brett Miller leads the trio with a 3.78 goals against average in six starts. Jack Watson leads the group with an .890 save percentage in 10 starts.
- Rensselaer's penalty kill ranks last in the nation at 66.9% (69-103).
- Friday marks the 110th meeting between Brown and Rensselaer dating back to 1951.
- Brown holds a 35-66-8 all-time record against the Engineers and a 19-24-4 home mark.
- The Bears are 6-4-0 in the last 10 meetings.
- Union enters the weekend with a 12-11-1 overall record and 6-5-1 conference mark.
- The Garnet Chargers are tied for fourth in the conference with Colgate, just one point ahead of the Bears.
- Union has won three straight and are unbeaten in the last five games since being swept by Brown and Yale in early January.
- Union's offense ranks second in the ECAC and 13th in the NCAA with 3.5 goals per game.
- Three players - Brandon Buhr, Carter Korpi, and Chaz Smedsrud - lead the team with nine goals apiece. Defenseman John Prokop leads the team with 20 assists and 25 points.
- Union's power play ranks fourth in the conference and 36th in the nation at 19% (19-100).
- Defensively, Union allows 3.2 goals per game to rank seventh in the conference and 39th nationally.
- Kyle Chauvette has made 23 starts between the pipes and holds a 2.96 goals against average and .900 save percentage.
- Union's penalty kill leads the conference and ranks second nationally at 89% (89-100).
- Saturday marks the 67th meeting between Brown and Union dating back to 1989.
- Brown holds a 28-24-14 all-time record against the Garnet Chargers and a 13-9-9 home mark.
- The Bears are 5-3-2 in the last 10 meetings.
- Brown sophomore Ryan St. Louis is one of 81 nominees for the 2024 Hobey Baker Memorial Award.
- St. Louis leads the team with 10 goals and 20 points and ranks second on the team in assists.
- In January, St. Louis collected eight points in six games to help the Bears go 4-2-0 in the stretch.
- St. Louis ranks sixth in the conference in goals per game (0.50) and seventh in points per game (1.00).
- The Bears are 4-1-0 when St. Louis records multiple points.
- Two Bears - Max Scott and Lawton Zacher - picked up recognition from the Hockey Commissioner's Association on Thursday.

- Freshman defenseman Alex Pineau picked up ECAC Defender of the Week honors after Brown's weekend in the North Country.
- Pineau tallied a goal in the loss at St. Lawrence before adding two assists in the overtime win at Clarkson.
- Earlier in January, he added a career-high six shots on goal and four blocked shots against Dartmouth.
- Pineau leads Brown defensemen with six goals and 12 points and ranks third on the team in points.
- Following the bye week, Brown is tied for sixth in the conference standings with 19 league points.
- The Bears are just four points behind Clarkson for second and five points ahead of 11th-place Princeton.
- Quinnipiac paces the conference with 32 league points in 13 games.
