PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown freshmen Max Scott and Lawton Zacher were named to the 2024 Hockey Commissioner's Association Tim Taylor Rookie of the Year Award Watch List. The HCA announced the 32-player watch list earlier Thursday.
Scott centers Brown's top line and leads the team with 11 assists and ranks second on the team in goals (7) and points (18). He also leads the Bears with 61 shots on goal and a +4 rating. Earlier this season, Scott picked up ECAC Rookie of the Week honors following a four-assist and five-point weekend.
Zacher has made 16 starts between the pipes this season and enters the weekend with a 2.51 goals against average and .915 save percentage. The Buffalo, New York native has been stellar in 2024 – posting a 2.02 goals against average and .927 save percentage in six starts.
Zacher earned ECAC Goaltender of the Week honors following Brown's weekend sweep over Harvard the Dartmouth. He stopped 60 shots against the Ivy foes.
It marks the second straight season Brown has a nominee for the award. Current sophomore Ryan Bottrill picked up the recognition last year during a standout freshman campaign.
Scott and Zacher represent two of the ECAC's five representatives, joining Quinnipiac's Andon Cerbone and Mason Marcellus and Yale goaltender Jack Stark.
Zacher and Stark are two of the four goalies on the list and are joined by AIC's Nils Wallstrom and Boston College's Jacob Fowler.
