PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown defenseman Alex Pineau picked up ECAC Defender of the Week accolades following his weekend in the North Country.
Pineau finished the weekend with a goal and two assists along with a +2 rating and seven shots on goal. The Thunder Bay, Ontario native scored Brown's lone goal in the 2-1 loss at St. Lawrence on Friday before chipping in two assists in the overtime win at Clarkson on Saturday.
Pineau stretched his point streak to four games over the weekend and is tied for third on the team with 12 points. His six goals rank third on the team and six helpers rank sixth. He is one of six Bears with double-digit points through 20 games. The freshman also leads the team with 40 blocked shots.
Pineau is the second straight and third weekly award for the Bears this season. Goaltender Lawton Zacher picked up Goaltender of the Week honors last weekend and Max Scott earned Rookie of the Week honors in October.
The Bears are off this weekend before hosting Rensselaer (7-15-1, 4-8-0 ECAC) on Friday (Feb. 2) and Union (11-11-1, 6-5-1 ECAC) on Saturday (Feb. 3) at Meehan Auditorium in a conference weekend. The Bears are currently fourth in the ECAC standings with 19 points.
