
No. 15 Women's Hockey Uses Strong Second Period to Beat Harvard, 5-1

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.– No. 15 Brown women's hockey (6-0-0, 4-0-0 ECAC) continued its strong start to the season with a 5-1 win over Harvard (2-3-0, 1-3-0 ECAC) on Saturday afternoon. Brown scored three goals in the second period to take control of the game.
Brown had four different goal scorers in the win and Rory Edwards moved to 5-0-0 on the season picking up 20 saves on the afternoon. The Bears dominated the puck, outshooting Harvard 41-21, including 34-6 in the first two periods.
Brown controlled the first period, outshooting Harvard 17-4 but came away tied after the first 20 minutes. India McDadi got the Bears on the board first with a power play goal at 9:18. McDadi's first of the season was assisted by Cameron Sikich.
Harvard responded with a goal five minutes later by Gwynn Lapp to even the score.
Brown took advantage of another Harvard penalty right at the start of the second. After winning the opening faceoff, the Bears got into the zone and went right at the net. Norehad got the puck on net and the rebound came out in front to Lyons who just got the puck over the line to put the Bears pack on top 17 seconds into the second.
With Harvard on the power play, Brown broke free and Jess Ciarrocchi found the back of the net, assisted by Anna Shelden for the short-handed goal to put Brown up 3-1. It was Ciarrocchi's third goal of the year.
The goals kept coming for the Bears as Brown increased its lead less than three minutes later. McDadi won the puck against the side boards and found Abby Hancock at the blueline. Hancock sent the puck toward the net and through traffic, past Emily Davidson for a her first-career goal.
Brown's final tally came at 14:34 in the third period as Lyons deflected one in front of the net for her second goal of the game. Lyon's goal was assisted by Sam Broz and Miranda Calderone.
