
No. 14/14 Women's Hockey hosts Colgate and Cornell for Big Weekend

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – No. 14/14 Brown women's hockey returns home for two games this weekend. The Bears will host No. 5/5 Colgate on Friday at 6 p.m. before taking on No. 11/12 Cornell on Saturday at 3 p.m.
Both games will be streamed on ESPN+. Friday's game against Colgate will be Brown's Mental Health Awareness game and the Saturday contest against Cornell is Brown's Faculty & Staff Appreciation game.

SKATE SHAVINGS
• Brown is back home for games against No. 5/5 Colgate and No. 11/12 Cornell this weekend. Brown will face off against Colgate on Friday at 6 p.m. and Cornell on Saturday at 3 p.m. Both games will be streamed on ESPN+
• Brown's 6-0-0 start is the best start for the Bears since the 1992-93 season. During that season, the Bears won their first eight games of the year.

WEEKLY HONORS
• Senior defensewoman Cameron Sikich was named ECAC Defender of the Week after her performance in two games against Franklin Pierce (Oct. 22).
• Sikich finished the two-game series with three goals and two assists.
• Sikich was named ECAC Defender of the Week for the second time this season after tallying three assists in the wins over Dartmouth and Harvard (Nov. 5).
STRONG START FOR THE BEARS
• Brown has started 6-0-0 in a season for the first time since the 1992-93 season. That season the Bears won their first eight games of the season en route to a 15-8-1 mark.
• Brown went unbeaten in its first four games of the 2022-23 season, when the Bears started 3-0-1. Brown's longest unbeaten streak to start a year is 14 games as the Bears went 12-0-2 in the 1994-95 season.
BROWN IN THE POLLS
• Brown was ranked 15th in the Oct. 28th USCHO Women's Hockey rankings. It is the first time since Oct. 23, 2006 that the Bears have appeared in the poll.
• The Bears moved up to No. 14 in this week's USCHO poll and made an appearance in the USA Hockey/The Rink Live poll at No. 14 as well.
• It is the first time since the final poll of the 2005-06 season that Brown has been ranked in the poll.
KEEPING THE NET LOCKED DOWN
• Rory Edwards has stepped up for Brown in net, holding a 5-0-0 record and allowing just one goal in four of her five outings.
• The last time Brown allowed one goal or less in four of five games was when the Bears did so in four-straight games from Nov. 6 to Nov. 19 of 2010.
• Katie Jamieson was in the net for the Bears during that streak.
• Overall, Brown has only allowed one goal in five of the six games this season. The Bears have not had a stretch like that since Nov. 19 to Dec. 4 of 2004.
LIGHTING THE LAMP
• Brown's offense came to play in the first two games of the season as the Bears scored 14 total goals in the wins over Franklin Pierce.
• The eight goals in the first game were the most since Brown scored 10 goals in a win at Sacred Heart on Dec. 7, 2011.
• The 14 goals are tied for the most in a two-game stretch with Dec. 7, 2011 and Jan. 4 2011 when the Bears scored 10 against Sacred Heart and four against Yale.
• The last time Brown scored six or more goals in back-to-back games came in the 2016-17 season when the scored six and seven goals in games against Sacred Heart.

• Colgate comes into the weekend ranked No. 5 in both polls and has a 9-3-0 record and 2-0-0 mark in ECAC play.
• The Raiders are riding a six-game win streak that includes wins over Rensselaer and Union last weekend.
• During the win streak, Colgate has scored at least four goals in each game, including eight goals against both Post and Maine.
• Colgate leads the nation with 14 power play goals on the season. The power play for the Raiders is converting at a .298 clip, which is fourth in the NCAA.
INSIDE THE SERIES
• Brown has dropped 11-straight games to Cornell including two contests in the best-of-three ECAC Quarterfinals last season.
• The last win for Brown was a 4-3 win at home back in 2018. Overall, Brown has lost 22 of the last 23 meetings.
SCOUTING THE BIG RED
• Cornell is ranked 11/12 after three weekends of play and are 2-3-1 on the season. The Big Red own a win over No. 12 Penn State but lost their ECAC opener to Union 3-2.

• Lindzi Avar was named ECAC Rookie of the Week for her hat trick against Rensselaer.
• Annelies Bergmann's three shutouts in goal this season are third in the NCAA.
