
Softball Hosts Princeton to Open Home Schedule Over Weekend

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown softball will open up its home schedule with three games against Princeton this weekend. The Bears and Tigers will play a single game on Friday and a doubleheader on Sunday as rain moves through the Northeast on Saturday.
ABOUT BROWN
- The Bears come into the weekend with a 3-11 record and a 1-2 mark in Ivy League play after its opening weekend at Columbia.
- Brown's win over Columbia was an 8-0 win in five innings as Alexis Guevara threw a complete game shutout. Six different Bears had an RBI in the win and Jasmine Hsiao and Vanessa Alexander each had two hits.
- The Bears lost the other two games 2-1 and 5-3 with the final game ending on a walk-off home run.
- Dara English continues to lead the Bears with a .324 batting average and a team-high 12 hits.
- Jasmine Hsiao is tops on the team with two home runs, three doubles and seven runs scored.
- Meghan Gormely leads Brown with seven RBI and has 11 hits and the Bears' only triple of the year.
- Guevara dropped her ERA to a team-best 3.00. The sophomore has thrown a team-high 37.1 innings and has 37 strikeouts to just 14 walks. Guevara is allowing opposing hitters to hit .252 on the season.
ABOUT PRINCETON
- Princeton is 7-12 on the season and swept its opening series with three-straight wins over Yale. The Tigers earned a 12-0 win in five innings to start the series before winning back-to-back one run games.
- Adrienne Chang leads the Tigers lineup with a .351 batting average and is tied for the team lead with four doubles and eight RBI. Her 20 hits this season are second-most on the team.
- Serena Starks is leading the team with 22 hits and 13 runs scored. Starks is also a perfect 6-for-6 on the base paths. Princeton as a team is 24-for-32 in stolen bases this year.
- Alexis Laudenslager is the ace for the Tigers' pitching staff, with a 3.29 ERA in 49.0 innings pitched. Laudenslager has thrown four complete games and struck out 65 batters.
LAST YEAR'S GAMES
- Brown lost all three games at Princeton last season, falling 4-2 in the first game before being shutout 2-0 and 7-0 to end the series. Brown's last win against Princeton was on March 24, 2018.
