Scouting the #21 Bears (7-1-2, 3-0-0 Ivy)
- For the first time in her career, Brittany Raphino has scored five goals in a two-game span, topping her two-goal performance against Princeton last week with a hat trick at Yale on Wednesday. Her third goal against the Bulldogs moved her into sole possession of third place in the Brown record books with 37 career goals and 90 career points. Both marks are just three behind second place. If she moves into second place, she would jump ahead of Debbie Ching '82 in both categories.
- Joy Okonye picked up her eighth assist of the season at Yale, which ties her for fifth most in a single season in Brown history. The program record of 14 has been held by Janet Repke '88 since 1988. Her .80 assists per game lead the Ivy League and are third in the nation.
- The Bears are undefeated in their last seven games, posting a 5-0-2 mark in that time. They have outscored those seven opponents 12-3.
- Penn is coming off a 1-0 loss to Princeton earlier this week. Drew Coomans netted the winner for the Tigers in the 50th minute.
- Despite being winless in league action, the Quakers have only given up one goal in each of their three conference games to start the year. They fell at Columbia 1-0 and tied Yale 1-1 at home before the matchup with Princeton this week, also at home.
- Penn's .833 goals per game is eighth in the Ivy League, but on the other side of the ball, their .67 goals against average is good for third.
- Brown is 19-13-4 all-time against Penn, including three straight victories.
- Head coach Kia McNeill is 4-1-1 against the Quakers during her time leading the Bears.
- All three of Brown's most recent victories over Penn have been 1-0 decisions. In 2019, Abby Carchio scored on a PK with just 30 seconds remaining in double overtime. In 2021, Ava Seelenfreund scored in the eighth minute of action with assists from Raphino and Evelyn Calhoon. Last year, it was Seelenfreund again, this time in the 27th minute with a helper from Sheyenne Allen.
