PHILADELPHIA – The Brown women's lacrosse team fell to Penn 13-7 Saturday afternoon. The game was tied at five at the half, but the Quakers outscored the Bears 8-2 in the final two quarters to claim the victory.
Maggie Fowler's second point of the day, a goal with 11:59 left in the second quarter, gave her 100 in her career, making her the 21st player in program history to reach the milestone. She finished the day with two goals and one assist.
Sophia DeRosa had a hat trick for the Bears, while Mia Mascone and Claire Jeschke each scored once as well. Maddie Joyce had two assists and Emmie Lau had one.

Penn scored first, but Fowler and the Bears would answer just over two minutes later to tie the game at one midway through the first. Neither side would add another tally in the opening frame.
Brown took the lead twice in the second. The Quakers opened the scoring, but Jeschke and Fowler answered back to take the 3-2 lead. After Penn tied the game at three, DeRosa's first of the day gave Brown the 4-3 lead. Two more for Penn and one for Brown led to a tie at five going into halftime.
DeRosa would score again to put Brown up 6-5 just two minutes into the third quarter, but it would serve as the Bears' final lead of the day. Penn went on to score five in a row and eight of the final nine in the game to pull away from Brown.
The Bears will stay on the road and take on San Diego State next Monday, April 18 at 12 p.m. at a neutral site location in Madison, N.J.
