At Brown Athletics we take a holistic, caring, and collaborative approach to supporting and promoting the mental well-being and performance of our student-athletes.
Brown has been called the “Happiest Ivy” and for good reason.
We believe that the mental well-being of our student-athletes is a shared and collective responsibility and this impacts everything we do. We understand that supporting and promoting the mental well-being of our student-athletes enhances all aspects of their lives, including their academic and athletic performance.
We are committed to helping our student-athletes thrive and compete at the highest levels, while also preparing them to be capable, prepared, and resilient human beings in the context of a supportive, caring, and inclusive environment that celebrates all student-athletes.
As a student-athlete at Brown you will have access to:
A diverse and experienced team of licensed mental health professionals, including clinical psychologists, counseling psychologists, sports psychologists, and more.
A team of physicians with mental health training, including primary care physicians, sports medicine physicians, and psychiatrists.
The TimelyCare Teletherapy app which provides 24/7 access to licensed mental health professionals who can help with a wide range of needs, including academic and athletic performance.
The Headspace App which provides anytime, anywhere access to guided meditations, sleep health tips, yoga, and more.
Team-based programs focused on mental performance, mindset, self-talk, stress resilience, mindfulness, and more.
A multidisciplinary team of professionals who are committed to empowering all Brown student-athletes with knowledge and skills known promote mental well-being, resilience, and optimal athletic performance.
Opportunities to join student-athlete groups that are focused on promoting mental well-being, including Student-Athletes for Mental Health Awareness (SAMHA) and Bruno Cares, Brown Athletics’ Peer-to-Peer Support Program.
Workshops led by experts in a variety of areas known to protect and enhance mental well-being, including sleep, nutrition, team building, communication, active listening, and more.
A large network of support resources, including but not limited to, our partners in BWell Health Promotion, Health & Wellness, Student Support Services, the Chaplains Office, and the Mindfulness Center at Brown.
