PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's lacrosse team will play two away from home this weekend, beginning with an Ivy matchup at Penn this Saturday, April 16 before taking on San Diego State in a neutral site clash on Monday, April 18.
With three games remaining in the Ivy season, the contest with the Quakers is vital for the Bears' postseason hopes. A win would push the Bears to 3-2 in Ivy play with games remaining against Cornell and Harvard, two teams that are also in the thick of the playoff hunt. Brown is currently tied for fourth in the Ivy standings with Harvard at 2-2. The top four teams qualify for the Ivy League Tournament.
The matchup with San Diego State will be a good nonconference test for the Bears. The Aztecs are 5-7 on the season and have split a pair of matchups with Ivy League foes so far this season, falling to Princeton and beating Columbia.
Saturday's game will be streamed on ESPN+.

Scouting the Bears (5-5, 2-2 Ivy)
- Brown will be looking for its third Ivy win in a season for just the second time since 2009 when it takes the field against Penn Saturday. The Bears finished the 2019 season at 4-3 and it was the first time with three or more wins since 2009.
- Claire Jeschke has scored at least on point in every game she has played this season and is currently riding a 25-game point streak dating back to her freshman season. It is the longest active streak on the team.
- Emmie Lau's 48 draw controls on the season are the 10th most in a single season by a Bear in program history. Caroline Zaffino '19 holds the record with 82 during the 2018 season. Lau could move all the way into second place with 21 more draws over the final five games of the season.
- Penn has dropped all three of its Ivy contests so far this season, falling 9-8 to Harvard, 11-10 to Yale, and 13-9 to Cornell.
- Six of the Quakers' eight nonconference games this season have been against ranked competition, including a win over then-No. 24 Drexel, 9-8. Their other victories have come against Delaware and Georgetown.
- Niki Miles leads Penn in both assists (11) and points (20). Keeley Block has a team-high 17 goals.
- San Diego State has also played a challenging slate this season that has featured four ranked opponents and 10 games away from home.
- Against Ivy competition, the Aztecs fell to Princeton 27-18, but took down Columbia 20-6.
- San Diego State has been led this season by Deanne Balsama's 59 points from 52 goals and seven assists. Camdyn O'Donnell and Brook Waddell are tied for the team lead of 14 assists.
