PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The seventh-ranked Brown women's crew team continues the spring season with a race against the Radcliffe Heavyweights on Sunday (Apr. 3) on the Charles River. Races are set to begin at 9:30 a.m.
Due to inclement weather forecasted in the Boston area, the race was moved from Saturday to Sunday.
The Bears hit the Charles after opening the season last weekend on Lake Carnegie against the Princeton Tigers and Ohio State Buckeyes, both top-10 teams per the Pocock CRCA Poll. The Bears won a pair of races as the 1V4 and 2V4 both crossed the finish line first in their respective races.
The Tigers edged out the Bears in the Varsity 8 race to retain the Class of 1987 Trophy.
Radcliffe opened the spring slate last Saturday (Mar. 26) at Cooper River Park in New Jersey in races against Iowa and Michigan State. Against the Hawkeyes, Radcliffe swept the races with wins in the 1V8, 2V8, and Varsity 4. Against the Spartans in the afternoon, Radcliffe took first in the 2V8 and Varsity 4 races, but took second in the Varsity 8 race.
Brown has won the head-to-head meeting with Radcliffe in each of the last 10 races from 2009-19. In the most recent meeting in 2019, the Bears won the 1V8, 2V8, 3V8, and Varsity 4 race while Radcliffe crossed first in the Second Varsity 4.
In the Pocock CRCA Poll, Brown moved up a spot to seventh with 337 votes. Texas leads the poll with 497 votes and 23-of-25 first-place votes. The Longhorns are followed by Yale (431 votes), Cal (401), Michigan (378), Stanford (363), and Princeton (356). Click here to view the complete CRCA Poll.
Looking ahead, Brown heads to Sarasota, Florida for the Big 10 Invitational on Friday (Apr. 15) and Saturday (Apr. 16) at Nathan Benderson Park, also the site of the 2022 NCAA Championships.
