
Women's Lacrosse Comes from Behind for Win at Holy Cross

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Brown women's lacrosse team (2-2, 0-0 Ivy League) got back in the win column with a come-from-behind 14-13 road victory over the Holy Cross Crusaders (1-3, 0-0 Patriot) Tuesday evening at Kuzniewski Field.
Mia Mascone and Sophia DeRosa recorded hat tricks to lead the Bears, with DeRosa tallying the game-winning goal with 18 seconds remaining.
"Today was a full team effort to gut out the win," head coach Keely McDonald said. "A ton of players stepped up in their roles to make huge plays."
Jackie Mason opened the scoring for Brown early in the first quarter before the Crusaders scored the following six goals through the middle of the second quarter for the five-goal lead.
Isabella Cotier scored her first career goal with 6:40 remaining in the second quarter and was followed with goals from Mascone and Ahn to make it a two-goal game at the half.
After a scoreless seven minutes to open the second half, the tables turned with Holy Cross scoring to extend its lead before a six-goal run from the Bears for a four-goal lead.
Maggie Fowler, Leah Caputo, and Mascone each scored in a 48-second span to open the run. The Bears closed the scoring run with four goals in two minutes late in the quarter with Caputo scoring her second of the game and DeRosa scoring twice.
Holy Cross junior Charlotte Wittstock scored with six seconds left in the third quarter to make it 11-8 Brown with 15 minutes to play.
Alaina Parisella got on the scoresheet for the Bears early in the fourth quarter to push Brown's lead back to four, but the Crusaders battled back to score five consecutive goals to take a 13-12 lead with 3:30 remaining.
Parisella struck the back of the net for her second of the game with 1:18 remaining with an assist from Mascone. Brown controlled possession and DeRosa completed the hat trick with 18 seconds remaining for the victory.
Erin Tucker finished the game with 10 saves for her second win of the season. Grace Flink recorded 12 saves for the Crusaders.
Brown opens Ivy League play this Saturday with a trip to Columbia (2-1, 0-0 Ivy League). Saturday's game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. and will stream on ESPN+.
