Women's lacrosse opens Ivy play at Columbia

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's lacrosse team will open Ivy League play this Saturday, March 5 at 1 p.m. when it takes on Columbia in New York.
The Bears and Lions will face off for the first time since the 2019 season. Brown is coming off a one-goal victory over Holy Cross this Tuesday, while Columbia fell to Bryant 20-6 in its last contest.
The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

Scouting the Bears (2-2, 0-0 IVY)
- The game against the Crusaders was one of runs. After Brown scored the first goal of the game, Holy Cross responded with six straight to take a 6-1 lead. The Bears would then go on to score 11 of the next 13 to take a 12-8 lead early in the fourth quarter. The Crusaders retook the lead with five in a row to go ahead by one, but the Bears scored the final two to claim the 14-13 victory.
- Mia Mascone's five points from three goals and two assists led Brown against Holy Cross. Sophia DeRosa had four points and three goals, including the game-winner.
- Sydney Paoletti's eight points from four goals and four assists lead the Lions on the young season. Katie Lutz and Rachel Graff each have a team-high five goals.
- Simone Koryszewski has started all three games in goal and has posted an 11.73 goals against average and a .533 save percentage.
- Brown leads Columbia in the all-time series 20-2, but those two Lion wins have come in the last four meetings between the two sides.
- In 2019, the Bears came away with a 13-8 victory. Alaina Parisella and Claire Jeschke each tallied goals for Brown, while Sophia DeRose picked up two assists. Erin Tucker made five saves in goal.
