Bears take on Florida Gulf Coast on Wednesday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Brown women's basketball will finish up the 2022 calendar year with a contest at Florida Gulf Coast on Wednesday (Dec. 28). The Bears and Eagles will tip-off at 5 p.m. and the game will be streamed on ESPN+.Â
ABOUT THE BEARS
- Brown holds a 7-4 record entering the final non-conference game of the season. The Bears seven wins have already surpassed the win total from a season ago.
- Brown's 101 points against Mitchell were the most in a regulation game for Brown since scoring 102 points against Sacred Heart on Dec. 6, 2017.
- The Bears shot a season-high 51.2 percent from the field, while also totaling season-highs in both points in the paint (64) and assists (24). Mackenzie Leahy scored a career-high 21 points in just 17 minutes of play, shooting 9-for-13 from the field and 3-for-4 from three point range.
- Brown will now turn its attention to Florida Gulf Coast for the first matchup in the series and the first game in the Sunshine State for the Bears since 2019 when Brown played Florida International and USF.
- This will be the third team between Brown and current Atlantic Sun teams. The Bears have a win against Stetson and a loss against Eastern Kentucky.
- Brown's defense continues to be a strong point for head coach Monique LeBlanc. The Bears are leading the Ivy League in field goal percentage defense (36.3), scoring defense (56.9 ppg), blocks per game (4.4) and steals per game (11.8). The Bears are 18th in the NCAA in steals per game, 51st in blocks per game, 51st in scoring defense and 60th in field goal defense.
- The Bears have three players scoring in double-figures on the season with Kyla Jones leading the team (16.2), followed by Isabella Mauricio (12.0) and Grace Arnolie (10.4).Â

- Florida Gulf Coast sits at 10-2 on the season and has wins over Kentucky and Mercer in its last two contests.Â
- The Eagles are ranked No. 3 in the CollegeInsider Mid-Major Top-25 poll and received votes in the latest Coaches' Poll.
- FGCU is led by Tishara Morehouse with 15 points per game. Alyza Winston (14.7) and Sha Carter (11) are also scoring in double-figures per game.
The three-point ball is the biggest threat for the Eagles as FGCU leads the NCAA with 32.1 three-point attempts per game and is fourth in the NCAA in three-point makes per game.Â
