Women's basketball hosts Columbia on Saturday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women's basketball returns home for a matchup with Columbia on Saturday (Jan. 22). The Bears are finishing up a stretch of four of five games at home to begin the Ivy League schedule.
The game against the Lions will tipoff at 2 p.m. in the Pizzitola Sports Center and will be streamed on ESPN+.

SCOUTING BROWN
- The Bears come into the game 0-4 in Ivy League play and are coming off a tough two-point loss to Yale, falling on a last-second basket by the Bulldogs.
- Isabella Mauricio led the Bears with a career-high 23 points, going 5-for-9 from three-point range. Mauricio had 16 points in the first half. The freshman finished the game with six assists and four rebounds.
- Kyla Jones went 8-for-12 from the field, scoring 17 points to finish second on the team in the game against Yale.
- Charlotte Jewell filled up the statsheet with 11 points, eight assists, six rebounds and three steals.
- The Bears shot 53.3 percent from the field in the first half.
- Brown will be looking to avoid its first 0-5 start in Ivy League play since starting 0-5 in the 2015-16 season.
- Brown has six games with double-digit steals this season, including 20 against Fisher. The fewest totals for steals in a game this season are five, which has taken place in two games this year.
- Brown is second in the league with 9.9 steals per game with Kyla Jones leading the league at 2.71 steals per game. Jones is 45th in the NCAA with 38 steals on the season and is 30th in NCAA in steals per game.
- Brown currently sits 48th in the NCAA in steals (159) and 57th in steals per game.
- Brown's defense is currently 89th in the NCAA with 3.9 blocks per game and the Bears' 63 total blocks are 71st in the nation.
- Mya Murray is currently 48th in the NCAA with 1.79 blocks per game and her 25 total blocks are the 60th most across the country. Murray has finished with at least one block in 11 of her 14 games this season, including three games with at least four blocked shots.
- As a team, Brown has blocked a shot in all but one game this season with two games (vs. Wagner, vs. Providence) with eight blocked shots.
- Isabella Mauricio is lighting it up from three-point range with the freshman sitting 35th in the NCAA with three-point field goals made (40). Mauricio is 31st in the NCAA in attempts (112), 50th in 3FG per game (2.5) and 106th in the nation in 3FG% (35.7).
- Mauricio has made twice as many threes as any other Bear this season and has hit a three in all but one game this season. Mauricio has four games with at least four made threes and has hit five threes in two games this season.
- Columbia is 12-3 on the season and 3-0 in Ivy League play. The Lions have won four-straight games and beat Cornell 57-46 on Thursday (Jan. 20), making up a previously postponed game.
- The Lions are led by Abbey Hsu who is scoring 17.1 points per game and shooting 36.8 percent from three.
- Kaitlyn Davis is scoring 13.1 points per game and is pulling down a team-best 8.7 rebounds per contest.
- Carly Rivera leads the team with 5.7 assists per game and is scoring 6.1 points per game.
- Brown leads the series with a 44-24 overall record over the Lions but Columbia has held the advantage as of late, winning the last five contests in the series,
