
Women's soccer travels to Cornell

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's soccer team will continue Ivy League play this Saturday, Oct. 23 at 1 p.m. at Cornell.
The Bears are coming off their biggest win of the season, a 1-0 victory on the road at then-No. 16 Harvard to take sole possession of first place in the Ivy standings. With three league games remaining, Brown is in the driver's seat in terms of claiming the conference championship.
Cornell on the other hand, after starting conference action with a win over Columbia, has dropped its last three games to fall to 1-3 in Ivy play.
The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
Scouting the Bears (9-3-0, 4-0-0 IVY):

Scouting the Bears (9-3-0, 4-0-0 IVY):
- Brown has won the Ivy League's Player of the Week award four weeks running. Brittany Raphino is the reigning winner, her second honor of the season, with Kayla Thompson and Kayla Duran picking up the other two.
- Raphino's game-winner against Harvard was her seventh goal of the season. Her 18 points lead the team and are third in the conference.
- Seelenfreund assisted on Raphino's goal and it puts her at second on the team with 14 points.
- Kayla Thompson picked up her second shutout of the season against the Crimson.
- In the Big Red's most recent outing, they fell to Yale in a 1-0 nail-biter. Yale scored in the 80th minute to claim the victory.
- Cornell has been led this year by Ava Laden and her five goals and four assists for 14 points. She is the only player on the team with more than six points.
- The Big Red has seen three different players get playing time at goalie this season, with Miranda Iannone playing the bulk of the minutes with nine starts. As a team, Cornell has posted a 1.86 goals against average and a .662 save percentage.
- Brown holds the all-time series over Cornell at 29-7-4. The Bears have won nine in a row dating back to 2011.
- In 2019, Raphino scored twice to lead Brown to a 2-0 win in Ithaca, N.Y. Thompson made four saves in goal.
