Softball to Play Two Road Midweek Games After Schedule Adjustment

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown softball hits the road for two midweek contests as the Bears will play at UMass on Tuesday (April 14) and Providence on Wednesday (April 15).
The game at Providence is a change from the original schedule, which was a doubleheader between the Bears and the Friars on Wednesday at Brown.

Brown will travel to UMass for a single game on Tuesday (April 14) before the Bears are scheduled to host a doubleheader against Providence on Wednesday (April 15).

ABOUT THE BEARS
- Brown enters the week with an 11-19 overall record and has dropped two-straight games in losses to Harvard last weekend.
- Macy Borowski is the lone batter to be hitting above .300 for the Bears with a .310 average.
- Cameron Zytkewicz Ray leads Brown with 24 hits and is one hit shy of collecting 100 for her career. She also leads the Bears with eight multi-hit games.
- Abby Bettencourt hit her second home run of the season in the series against Harvard but had her team-high 13-game hitting streak ended in the final game of the series.
- Jasmine Hsiao is on a current 13-game reached base streak. The senior is three doubles short of the Brown career record.
- Borowski threw her second complete game shutout of the season in the series opener with Harvard. The junior holds a 3.63 ERA and had a team-high eight wins and 102 strikeouts in 108.0 innings.
- UMass is 14-24 on the season and lost its last two games at Central Michigan last weekend.
- Odyssey Torres has a team-high .429 batting average and also leads the team in hits (42), doubles (12), home runs (3) and RBI (23).
- Hannah Streicher is tops in the circle for UMass with a 3.73 batting average. Streicher is 9-10 on the season and has 68 strikeouts in 129.1 innings.
- Brown is 0-9 against UMass but the last meeting between the two teams came back in 2005. The last time the two teams played in Amherst, UMass swept a doubleheader back in 2000.
- Providence is 19-14 on the season and earned a three-game sweep against St. John's over the weekend. The Friars will play Boston University at 3 p.m. before taking on the Bears in the nightcap.
- Cameron Dunn is leading Providence with a .415 batting average and Emily Jonte is just behind at .397. Dunn has a team-best 12 home runs and 44 RBI on the year.
- In the circle, Alyssa Twomey is leading Providence with a 2.97 ERA and is 8-1 on the season with three complete games. She also leads the staff with 47 strikeouts in 59.0 innings pitched.
- Brown is 28-45 all-time against the Friars but broke a 10-game losing streak last season with a 2-1 win at Providence. Brown last won back-to-back games against Providence in the 1999 season.
