
Jackson Ties Program Record, Riley Shines in Hurdles, Track and Field Competes at Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Brown track and field programs traveled down to Raleigh to compete in the three-day Raleigh Relays hosted by North Carolina State University, while a handful of jumpers also competed at the Bill Carson Invitational at East Carolina University.

On Friday, junior Alyssa Jackson, who broke two school records in the indoor track season, tied the school record for the women's outdoor 100m dash. Placing 19th out of 122 sprinters, Jackson recorded a time of 11.75, beating her previous record by .11 seconds and tying Thelma Breezeatl's 19-year old school record.

In total this weekend, Brown's women set five top-10 program marks, while the men set two.

WOMEN
Running alongside Jackson in the 100m, freshman Anya Anderson placed 44th out of the 122 sprinters with a time of 12.05. Freshman Sydney Ruckett placed eighth overall out of 126 runners in the 400m with a time of 53.93, putting herself on the school's top-10 list at third all time. Ruckett also raced in the 200m and placed 54th overall out of 149 sprinters with a time of 24.94.

On Saturday, junior Elle Riley placed eighth overall out of 62 hurdlers in the 400m hurdles in 58.61, the second fastest 400m hurdle time in school history. Riley also raced in the 100m hurdles on Friday and placed sixth out of 87 hurdlers with a time of 13.83.

Seniors Julia Schriefer and Emily Mrakovcic both ran in the 1500m on Friday. Schriefer placed 60th overall out of 218 runners with a time of 4:25.48 and Mrakovcic placed 97th overall with a time of 4:29.60. Both also competed in the 800m on Saturday, where Mrakovcic placed 73rd overall out of 178 runners with a time of 2:11.81 and Schriefer placed 96th with a time of 2:13.23.

Junior Olivia Fraga and senior Nimrit Ahuja ran in the 3000m steeple. Out of 69 runners, Fraga placed 16th with a time of 10:18.89 which is the fourth fastest time in school history, beating her previous record by 10.01 seconds. Ahuja placed 19th with a time of 10:27.77, which is the sixth fastest time in school history, beating her previous record by 10.54 seconds.

In the triple jump, freshman Joyce Olawaiye placed 21st with a 11.63m jump. Senior Zoe Carter-Konate placed 17th overall out of 49 throwers in the hammer throw on Saturday (52.50m).

MEN
Seniors Elias Archie and Solomon Miller raced in the 100m on Friday. Out of 102 sprinters, Archie placed 53rd overall with a time of 10.71 and Miller placed 66th overall with a time of 10.80. Sophomore Trevor Wilder and senior Jason Estrada raced in the 400m. Out of 126 sprinters, Wilder placed 14th overall with a time of 47.19, which is the fifth fastest time in school history. Estrada finished 33rd overall with a time of 48.09.

On Saturday, sophomore Colin Fisher ran the 800m race and placed 10th overall out of 193 runners in 1:49.83, placing himself eighth all time in school history.

Junior Karon Johnson placed 25th overall out of 44 throwers in the shot put with a 15.58m toss. Freshman Jaden Stewart placed eighth overall out of 40 jumpers in the triple jump (15.19m). Junior Ethan Wordell placed 13th overall out of 52 throwers in the hammer throw on Saturday (58.99m). In the 4x100m relay, Brown's A team placed 14th overall with a time of 41.56.

Brown track and field will return to action next Saturday, April 4, at the Ocean State Cup hosted by Bryant University.
