Riley Qualifies for NCAA Championships with New School Record at NCAA First Round

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Junior Elle Riley broke her own school record and qualified for the NCAA National Championships in the 400 meter hurdles on Saturday as the Brown track and field programs concluded competition at the NCAA First Round, which was hosted by the University of Kentucky.
Riley will now have the chance to compete for a national championship at the 2026 NCAA Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon from June 10-13.
Riley advanced from the prelims of the 400m hurdles with a time of 57.61 on Thursday. On Saturday, she turned in a time of 56.07 seconds, which was nearly one full second (0.97) faster than her previous school record which she set two weeks ago at the Ivy League Heps. The time was good for 12th overall and a qualifying spot in the national championships in Eugene.
In other women's events on Saturday, junior Olivia Fraga (18th/10:12.30) and senior Nimrit Ahuja (26th/10:17.31) competed in the 3,000m steeplechase. The 4x100m relay team also competed but was disqualified.
On the men's side, junior Ethan Wordell placed 24th overall in the hammer throw at 63.34m, a new personal record that improves his No. 4 ranking in school history. Junior Eddie Webb, the Ivy League champion, placed 19th in the javelin with a throw of 64.63m. On Friday in the triple jump, freshman Jaden Stewart took 38th place at 14.84m.
