Baseball to Host Northeastern for Midweek Clash on Wednesday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown baseball team will welcome Northeastern to Attanasio Family Field at Murray Stadium on Wednesday afternoon for a 3 p.m. first pitch.
The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ and live audio is available on the Learfield Varsity Network.

The game will serve as the first matchup between the two schools since the 2022 season and will see Brown head coach Frank Holbrook face off against his old team after previously serving as an assistant coach for the Huskies in 2024 and 2025.

SCOUTING BROWN (5-8, 0-0 Ivy)

The Bears are coming off a 2-2 week where four Brown pitchers combined on a one-hitter in a 4-1 win over Quinnipiac, before Brown took one out of three over the weekend at Seton Hall.
Sophomore outfielder Alex Benevento carries a 15-game on-base streak dating back to last season. He has a hit in 12 of 13 games this season.
Benevento ranks third in the Ivy League this season with a .375 batting average, a .583 slugging percentage, 14 runs scored, and is fourth with a .474 on-base percentage.
Senior DJ Dillehay has a six-game hitting streak and is tied for the team lead with 10 RBIs.
Freshman shortstop Matt Luigs is hitting .300 with a team-leading eight walks out of the leadoff spot.
Freshman pitcher Camren Piwnicki was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week for his strong performance on the mound in Saturday's comeback win at Seton Hall.

SCOUTING NORTHEASTERN (9-7, 5-1 CAA)

Northeastern will play Merrimack at home on Tuesday afternoon before traveling to face Brown on Wednesday.
The Huskies are coming off a three-game sweep of Towson at home this past weekend to move to 5-1 in CAA play on the season.
Cooper Tarantino leads the team with a .333 batting average.
The Huskies have stolen 60 bases in 71 attempts this season, with Carmelo Musacchia having swiped a team-high 14 bags in 15 attempts.
Harrison Feinberg and Matt Brinker lead the team with 12 RBIs apiece, and Eric Cha is hitting. 310 with 11 RBIs.

ON DECK
After Wednesday's matchup, the Bears will turn their attention to Ivy League play which begins on Saturday with a three-game series at reigning champion Yale.
