PROVIDENCE, R.I. – For the second consecutive week a Brown baseball player has been recognized with an award from the Ivy League as freshman pitcher Camren Piwnicki has been named the league's Rookie of the Week.
Piwnicki picked up his first collegiate win on Saturday against Seton Hall by firing 5.0 shutout innings of relief, allowing just three hits and two walks while striking out three. He took the mound to start the fourth inning with the Bears trailing 6-5 and shut down the Pirates, which kept the Bears in the game and led to the team scoring four runs in the ninth inning to win the game 9-6.
The victory helped Brown go 2-2 on the week after previously defeating Quinnipiac 4-1 on Wednesday.
This marks the second weekly award for Brown this season, as Piwnicki joins Peter Dubie who was named the Ivy League Pitcher of the Week on March 9.
Brown returns to action this Wednesday, March 18 when it hosts Northeastern at Attanasio Family Field at Murray Stadium at 3 p.m.
