
Women’s Lacrosse Falls 13-10 in Back-and-Forth Battle at South Florida

TAMPA, Fla. - The Brown women's lacrosse team (1-3) fell 13-10 in a back-and-forth battle at South Florida (4-1) on Sunday afternoon at Corbett Stadium.
Ruby Sliwkowski led the way offensively for the Bears with three goals and three assists, the junior also had one ground ball and one caused turnover. Carolino Nozzolillo, Tessie Batchelder and Adele Atherton each added two goals. Atherton chipped in with one assist.
Mackenzie Conway made 10 saves to go along with a game-high five ground balls, the goalkeeper also had one caused turnover. Annie Dignazio added a team-high four draw controls while Caroline Shu added three.
In a low-scoring first quarter, the Bears outscored the Bulls 2-1 behind goals from Bae Bounds and Nozzolillo, both of the Brown goals were assisted by Sliwkowski. Conway stopped six shots in the opening 15 minutes.
South Florida opened the second quarter on a 4-0 run to take a 5-2 lead before a goal from Atherton concluded the run. After Atherton's goal, the Bulls extended their lead to 6-3 before Sliwkowski and Batchelder both scored goals to cut the Bulls' lead to 6-5. The Bulls went on to add one more goal late in the quarter to bring a 7-5 lead into halftime.
Trailing 7-5 entering the second half, Brown opened the half on a 3-0 run to take an 8-7 lead on goals from Atherton, Sliwkowski, and Nozzolillo. After the Bears took the lead, the Bulls responded with two goals to take a 9-8 lead. Brown then responded with goals from Sliwkowski and Batchelder to regain the lead at 10-9 before South Florida knotted the game at 10.
With the game tied at 10 entering the fourth quarter, South Florida outscored Brown 3-0 in the final 15 minutes to earn the victory.
Brown will return home to begin Ivy League play on Saturday, Mar. 7 against Cornell, the opening draw control is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Stevenson-Pincince Field. Fans can purchase tickets here.
